Source for Rubber Strap Button Washers?

The Rubber washers on a few of my 90's hamers are either missing or worse for wear due to age. Does anyone know of a source for them? I would assume that back in the day they probably just had a bunch of rubber gasket and sliced it up to make them. I'm trying to get the diablos in particular back as close to original as possible, and the washers on both are long gone. Sure black felts aren't horrible, but I really do like the look of the rubber ones. EBMM actually uses contoured clear plastic washers on their current issue guitars, so they match the curve of the body pretty much perfectly. Very solid.

I know there is a certain type of rubber (neoprene maybe?) that reacts with guitar finishes. How do you tell if these are safe?

That only applies to nitrocellulose finishes, as far as I know. Modern acrylic and polymerized finishes are pretty much invincible.

I went direct to the guitar parts resource website to purchase what I wanted, as I needed some other things as well, and this way ebay doesn't get a cut.

For under $10 you can get a bag of 100 Grolsh Beer bottle washers. They work great. I got mine off Ebay. Should last a lifetime? Shoot me your address and I will send you a handful if you haven't found some already.

Those are great for strap locks, but the OP was looking for little rubber washers that go between the strap button and the guitar body itself. And it looks as though he found what he was looking for.

They also make felt washers. What guitars use a rubber washer? I don't believe I've ever seen one.

Almost every Hamer made since the '80s.

It shipped with rubber.

yep! Rubber all the way! The ones I got are a bit thicker than the stock, so they squish out a bit more, but they still look great. I do have one or two that are all crunchy for some reason, so those are getting replaced.

Did they still use rubber up into the 2000s? I'm going to "un-modify" the newport soon, and want to get it back as close to stock as possible.

Yes - up to the last ones made.

Have you tried the Wallgreens special ribbed Trojen rubbers ?

They just don't feel right.
