Do you all have a sense of the discount from market value if you're buying or selling a guitar with a repaired neck?

Assume it's a pro repair job from an actual pro (e.g. Murkat, BCRGreg).

I sold my Ric 4003s8 a while back for 2500, and it had a repair at the neck+body union (neck breaking away from wings is a somewhat common thing with those). I was thinking realistic normal going rate right now would have been around low 3s for an unbroken one.

I also had a 60s EB-0 that had been obliterated (massive neck heel repair, body routes, etc) and put back together and refinished nicely. Bought and later sold it for 625, when those were fetching ~800. It was a very lively, resonant little bass. I only sold it because I have two other EBs... but I can't help but wonder if nicely executed neck repairs sometimes make 'em better(?). My friend has a Thunderbird with reattached head, and that thing really sings! Probably just luck of the draw.

^^^ I'd probably be up around $250 for that one, if the case is nice.

I wouldn't rule out buying a guitar with a repaired neck, but it depends on the repair. BCR Greg/Murkat caliber work, I'm fine with it. I won't pay unblemished pricing cuz that would be stoopid, but I'd consider buying it. Anything of lesser caliber...meh...probably not.

BCR Greg/Murkat do top end work, no doubt about it, but for me, there are a zillion guitars out there, I don't need a repaired one to only save a few bucks..

A repaired beater gets played like crazy. A limited edition high dollar guitar gets pampered. Somewhere in between there are very nice guitars that get played a lot, but the beaters often get played more.
