mtn cub Posted June 10, 2019 Posted June 10, 2019 Hello, As the title says, I'm looking for a case to fit a 2002 Newport Pro guitar. The body shape and dimensions make finding a nice snug, proper fitting case a bit of a challenge. That being said, I would appreciate a heads-ups if anyone might know of one. Or, if anyone can suggest a quality, after market case that would fit the Newport, that would be great. Thanks, Tim.

currypowder Posted June 21, 2019 Posted June 21, 2019 I had one and it fit pretty snuggly in an Epi 339 case. The strap button on the upper bout rubbed against the side pretty tightly. I found it to be an acceptable case.

According to my emails, I bought this case from Peter back in late 2016. It is near mint and should fit: Newports, Monacos and Talladegas.

Boomerang~Junkie Posted June 22, 2019 Posted June 22, 2019 It is a factory Newport/Monaco/Talladega case. I was crazy lucky that Peter had one in his stash but I didn't end up using it. Near mint, with no issues or funky smells from a non-smoking home. Peter keeps his toys in great shape. Hard as all-heck to find period - but harder yet in this shape. I have $245 in it - and that's what it will cost to get it to your door in the CONUS.

Boomerang, that's a real nice case but a bit more than I was hoping to spend...... currypowder, that looks like a very snug, but acceptable fit. any weird pressure points outside of the top horn at the strap button? it looks like you had some kind of strap lock on there, correct? it looks like the contours are fairly similar. Not just a really nice case, but the right case. The price is excellent considering they aren’t made anymore, and this one’s pretty much new.

No weird pressure point outside of the strap button, which is a Dunlop style locking button. It worked fine for me.

mtn cub Posted June 29, 2019 Author Posted June 29, 2019 Boomerang~Junkie, Just to be 100% sure, does the case measure 14" at the lower bout and 10 1/4" +/- at the upper bout? It was built specifically for a Newport Pro, correct? Out of curiosity, is Peter gtrdaddy? I've been a member here for quite a while, had a few Hamers and finally found one with a 1 11/16" nut width and a nice full profile to fit my big hands.... All of the previous Hamers I've had came with 1 5/8" nut widths (Studio, Studio Custom and a Mirage ll) and the necks were just a bit small for my comfort zone. I now have a "keeper"...... Tim.

This is the correct factory Newport case. Im not where the case is right now, so I can't measure it for a couple of weeks.

Boomerang~Junkie Posted July 2, 2019 Posted July 2, 2019 Unless you are ruling mine out on price, if you can wait until 07-08, I can give you exact measurements - so you can be sure its the right case. I bought mine for another custom guitar and never used it at all. I've been down the exact road you're on - I even called TKL and asked them directly before finding one here from HamStd. TKL did not make that many of these cases as it's a special model designed to fit only those three Hamer guitars. The actual TKL case model number is: GC4-0. It took me well over a year to find this one. The one I have is as close to "new" as you'll find. Not necessarily rare, but getting damn hard to find because there's usually a Monaco, Talladega or Newport already living in it.
