cswilder Posted February 25, 2006 Posted February 25, 2006 I'm selling a Fender Prosonic 2x10 combo amp. The previous owner painted on the red tolex so if you don't care about cosmetics you can get a good deal on this amp. I replaced the grill cloth and tested to see if the paint on the tolex will come off. It does scrub away with naptha, but it will take some elbow grease. These amps were designed by Bruce Zinky and produced by the Fender Custom Shop in the late 90s. This one is a 2x10 combo with Celestion speakers. It has a switch to select Class A, Class AB with tube rectifier, or Class AB with Solid State rectifier for three different power options rangeing from 30-60 watts. It's all tube and largely handwired with no board mounted pots or tube sockets. It's a two channel amp with a master volume that only affects one channel so you can use it as a switchable boost. The reverb is also footswitchable with the included non original footswitch. $500 shipped. Thanks, Chris
Scooter Posted February 25, 2006 Posted February 25, 2006 I'm interested. Can you compare the gain channel to something "popular" for me? Will it do the chugga chugga metal stuff well?
ZR Posted February 25, 2006 Posted February 25, 2006 The Prosonic head was what turned me onto Zinky stuff. It has great clean and awesome distortion - more than you would ever think ...especilally from a Fender amp. Very Marshally sounding to me but...well, anyway don't even think of it as a Fender amp really. It's just a great rock amp. Can do hard rock/metal and fender clean. Triple rectifier options really open up the tone possibilities. I liked it so much that I searched and finally found a Zinky MOFO head and then sold all my other amps! Zinky rocks!
tomteriffic Posted February 25, 2006 Posted February 25, 2006 Prosonics are certifiable flamethrowers. $500 shipped plus some elbow grease is a damn steal for one of the early custom shop ones (which this is. The red tolex is the giveaway). Even the Class A/30 watt setting will tear your head off.
black magic Posted February 25, 2006 Posted February 25, 2006 If that sounds anytrhing like a Stage 100 Fender, it should smoke!! Jack.
DavidE Posted February 25, 2006 Posted February 25, 2006 Killer deal. I have a red one myself. These amps have cascading gain, so they can get very high gain. Plug it into a 4x12 for bottom end thunk. I know Zinky has a bunch of mods for these, but I haven't looked ino them yet.
cswilder Posted February 25, 2006 Author Posted February 25, 2006 Scooter,I replied to your email, but these guys have described the tone of the amp better than I did. It's not your standard Fender by any means.Chris
Rocktuna Posted February 26, 2006 Posted February 26, 2006 Wow that was fast! I also have a Red one. These things go from Uber clean to damn near Mesa territory. It's amaxing what you can do with the double gain stages. $500 was a steal esp for a red one.
sirDaniel Posted February 26, 2006 Posted February 26, 2006 the custom "Flash Gordon" graphic was at least a grand itself
