If I didn’t have the VAC25  enroute I’d be mighty interested...

That Orangutan Jr. is a crazy low price.

Alright, how good is this amp really? Can I get sounds impossible to get from any Mesa, Suhr, or PRS amp? Or from a Legend Rock N' Roll 50? (still gotta repair the tube heater transformer of that one)?

Here is my opinion. Handmade one at a time, by guys that are doing it for the love of it,  and not all about the $. I have had a "Superchamp", Blues Jr, Fuchs, East, Budda, Dr Z's and countless other apart and on the table. The 3 Monkeys are second to none in build quality and worth every penny.

The two that I listed are great prices, but also these amps need to be ran hard to sound their best. I struggled with the OJR, until our first rehearsal with it. It sounded amazing in the mix with the whole band, then when we got to the gig and stuck a mic in front of it, it sounded amazing. Unfortunately having issues internally in the band, I had to go with a bigger amp because I could not boost my lead enough to satisfy the other guitarist/PA owner.

The OJR is great with the bass lift. You can play Tele or a strat with the lift off and pick up a Les Paul and "Lift the Bass" which removed all the woof you would get from the extra mass of the guitar and hotter pickups. I never had to touch a knob during a gig and could use what ever I wanted.

If you have all the amps that you mentioned, then maybe you don't need another amp.

Thanks for that, Bubs. Funny man, "maybe you don't need another amp." Of *course* I need another amp.

My hyperbole was really asking "how special is the sound of a 3 Monkeys amp?",  knowing readers are likely to have experience across a broad range of guitar amplifiers.

YES.

Well, then thank you for releasing it into my amp preserve, where it will receive the best of care and can cavort and gambol with its kind.

Or is that "consort and gamble"? I get the two confused.
