crunchee Posted March 25, 2021 Posted March 25, 2021 No affiliation, of course. Saw this mentioned on the Nashville early AM TV news this morning. The auction starts Saturday: https://www.musicradar.com/news/the-elvis-presley-hagstrom-viking-ii-guitar-from-his-comeback-special-is-up-for-sale
LordsoftheJungle Posted March 25, 2021 Posted March 25, 2021 If I had deep pockets I think I'd buy that one,,,
kizanski Posted March 25, 2021 Posted March 25, 2021 I'd rather have the Super 400 he borrowed from Scotty Moore for the "chair session." I loved that segment - just the guys sitting around having fun. Something like this would never be attempted or broadcast today. "Drumming on a chair? Yeah, that's not happening."

That segment had me drooling over a full Gibson catalog from the 60s (which I still have). At which point, I think the top of the line archtops (inc also the L5 and Johnny Smith) were around $1275. I did go out, several years later, and picked up a used blonde Super 4. I guess it was good to scratch that itch, but it was not the smartest thing I ever did. Man them suckers are huge! BTW, in other silly things, I dressed up (exactly ONCE) in an outfit of black leather jacket and pants, with the black t-shirt and boots. Did the "Trouble" sequence.....Not sure if my wife thought it was good or just funny....She has not asked me to repeat for guests. 😏
Steve Haynie Posted March 26, 2021 Posted March 26, 2021 $350,000 for a guitar used in a significant moment in his career... I get it. I am out on this one. Just letting the whole world know. Yep. Gotta pass.
