topekatj Posted April 22, 2021 Posted April 22, 2021 NICE! So $5000 CAN, is that close to $350 US? (JK, I wish)
Steve Haynie Posted April 22, 2021 Posted April 22, 2021 Everything from my youth and early 20s is expensive now. It would be nice to try out that Explorer. It might feel just right.

I want to replace a guitar I foolishly traded years ago... I originally bought the guitar for $400 & after searching for a few years, I found a replacement but it's now 2.5k... I can't get myself to do it
Punkavenger Posted April 23, 2021 Posted April 23, 2021 I had a 67 VW bus $675 in 81. 69 Mach 1 in 1980 or so $2000. The Mustang is now $50,000 and the VW $20,000. I talked to my young neighbor the other day ... "You had a 67 bus? That's SICK!!!" lol ... that Mach 1 was nice though ... tried to buy another but the highest I was willing to go was $15,000 or so.

That '69/'70 Mustang fastback ("sportsroof" in FoMoCo parlance, IIRC) was, to my eyes, the perfect muscle car body style. The only improvements I could even fathom were on the Boss 302 and Boss 429 variants. A Boss 429 at that time costed Ford roughly $10k per unit to build (conversions were done by Kar Kraft in Brighton), which was Ferrari territory in '69. The muscle car era was surreal, no doubt.
hamerhead Posted April 26, 2021 Posted April 26, 2021 My second car was a small-block 1967 Mustang fastback (Bullitt! I wish...). It was 12 years old when I got it for $100. My Les Paul Custom was $675 in 1978. Still have one. Wish I had the other.
