geobluto Posted June 9, 2021 Posted June 9, 2021 Selling this one off to cover Saturday’s NBD (first BRAND NEW bass since 2002)…This bass is in very good to excellent condition (8.5 out of 10 conservatively) and comes with Hamer BC-1 OHSC. $750 plus actual shipping costs… Posting first here and on FB Hamer USA fan page, in attempt to keep bass in the family... This one is a bit of an odd-ball; a one-off previous owner modification, switching the Neck J pickup to a P pickup... I get what the original owner was going after with this; Hamer 1st Gen cruise bass P/J setup (Owner installed DiMarzio Model P/Model J pups) with a 2nd Gen 2tek CB Body/Neck. Appears to be original Hamer V/V/T control harness. Electronics in perfect condition, as is the tuners, pups and bridge. Neck is straight and frets have plenty of meat on them; frets were professionally leveled/dressed back in February. Slight belt swirls/scratches with very (very!!) minor dings; none through the clearcoat finish… Great sounding bass, currently strung with D’Addario XL ProSteels (43 to 107 tapered SS roundwounds) The finish color is definitely not one that Hamer used... Appears to fall between a vintage olive green (think late 70’s Fender strat/J-Bass olive green) and a slightly lighter sage green… Depends on what lighting is used at the time of viewing… 1st Picture below is best approximation under natural light conditions… When I purchased this bass, I took it a step further... I took out the original Hamer Pots, and replaced it with a Kellings Sound passive P/J designed treble choke harness... What I was looking for was something to take the high-mid zing/almost nasal tonal characteristics of typical 2nd gen 2tek CB's... Controls were Master Volume, J-Pickup Blend (I'll explain), and Master Tone. The electronics harness was unique in that the P pickup was full up all the time, while the blend tone controlled the amount of the J pickup was blended in; More like a P-Bass with a 2tek bridge, with the J-pickup to add articulation...The master tone was connected with a .082uF Vitamin Q paper in oil capacitor which gave a smooth taper adding a little treble cut, but gave a darker tone (compared to typical .047uf cap) when dialed all the way down... Reinforced the P-Bass characteristics while additionally taming the high-mid associated with the 2tek bridge... Back in February (when I was originally going to sell this bass), I pulled the Kellings Sound Harness out and replaced it with the Stock Hamer VVT harness... I have the original (actually, I purchased two, the unused one is included with this bass) in the event the purchaser chose to replicate what I had in there... If you want to try it, that’s great, if not, it’s not going to hurt my feelings…LOL… figured I would give you the option. Give me yell if you have any questions and/or concerns; camera at the ready for more pictures… Next post will include a bunch more pictures, but the color is slightly lighter than in reality (due to lighting). Lifetime support on this end... did you try flats with tapered end on your bass?? Found the BEST nickel roundwound tapered end strings (IMHO) for hamer 2tek CBs, if interested... the only thing about Galli strings is the nickels you have to order overseas... if interested give me a shout.. ordered 5 sets, can send one over asap gratis.. life is good... Thanks man... only reason I am selling this is a "shift" via purchase of a high-end bass... other bass related sales in progress; not to pay off Saturday's purchase, but to cover my sweet little AmStaff pup's damage to backward fence and interior front door frame... dogs; they raise and lower your blood pressure at same time...LOL
