surgical tubing for the old guitar stands: where? what size?

It used to be available on a roll at the hardware store, but it looks like the smaller (at bit too small?) is what is commonly available. The metal on my old KMC stand measures 8mm, so the 1/4" id stuff that seems to be commonly available looks a little small. Anyone have an ebay source for slightly bigger stuff?, or another option?

McMaster is my go-to for a lot of needs, most things are reasonable and they ship super fast.

Hospital would probably sell you some for $500/inch or something like that

Um, that would be the cash price, running it through insurance would make it about $2000!

The hardware store (McClendon) DOES have 3/8 id latex tubing, they just keep it out of sight in boxes up above, apparently because the homeless drug addicts steal it if it's on a roll on the shelf.
