I was just in Lewes last weekend (a good friend has a cool brewery there, and I’m from Sussex County).  Will probably be back there in the next week or so as well since we have a place in Bethany.

I wish I was in the market - that’s a COOL guitar.  Wonder if that was a local purchase or not - the former Thompson Music in Lewes was a Hamer dealer in the 80s and early 90s, and I probably spent way too much time (and money)  in Scott’s shop!

Had one like this.

Great guitar.

I seem to recall that this era has very slim necks if that's an issue for anyone considering.

Mine did anyway.

I'd be a liar if I said I didn't miss it now and then.

I am pretty sure I got my 1991 PRS there.  I got it used in 1995 but didn't set foot in the shop.  I had him ship it to me.  It was a mythical guitar to me back then....only seen in magazines and was a lot of money, even used, to a 20-something at the time.  It is the guitar I played the most and have owned for the longest.

Luckily, I prefer inline headstocks or I might have made the trip for myself.

I bought my 1989 PRS Custom there, brand new.  I had wanted a Whale Blue one, and I guess to convince me to order one, Scott let me tag along on a trip to the Virginia Ave shop in Annapolis and check out the wood selection and see the process.  We met Paul briefly, but had lunch with the sales manager at the time and (IIRC), Marc Quigley.  It was really cool…

When the guitars came in, I honestly didn’t love the Whale Blue one, and was actually disappointed, since I had ordered it and waited a while.  The top looked kind of washed out and the back and neck were painted black, which I thought looked cheap.

Fortunately, I LOVED the way another one in the batch played and looked, so went home with that one.  I still have it, although it hasn’t been out of the case much at all in 20 years.  It’s still in nearly mint condition after that being my main gig guitar in the ‘90s.

I guess different times.  I remember it didn't come with a case but he had one and tacked it on to the price of the guitar.  It wasn't nearly as nice as the guitar but it did the job.

Knowing Scott, he probably swapped out the nicer case for his own ratty case!  😂

At least he didn’t swap out the original pickups for some cheaper ones on you!

We know a story about someone who does that, don't we... ;)
