I agree.  They ain't makin' any more of 'em.

I know the guys from Steamboat Amps pretty well. I've done a lot of business... meaning, having them repair amps for me and setup guitars over the last seven years or so. They are really good people.......... and since they took over Rio Grande, I just had them install some Rios in a Walsh guitar I have. A Texas/Buffalo bucker setup.... anyway, new Robin guitars should happen down the line, but they are concentrating on getting RG orders out and new dealers setup.

If you are in Houston they are GREAT for tube amp repair and builds. Everything they've done for me has been top notch.

Have they taken over the factory as well, or just the contents?

I am totally out of the loop since Dave's passing.

They are completely moved into the building. Now there is a TON of work to do on getting it all straightened out and stuff.. but the CNC works, they have the designs and things... they are building pickups in the building on the same winding machines.... and have their amp repair stuff in there.  Now it is really only three or four people total doing it all right now.   I believe they had an employee who had been there with Dave doing some of the pickup stuff.

Now I haven't been by in about two months. It is an hour away from my house, so I really just visit when dropping off or picking something up.

I can say Jake was friends with Dave and had so much respect for him. When Dave had started building guitars again, Jake told him they would take any to sell they could... and they also sold RG pickups at their storefront.

It was $1090 when I posted about "the bargain" 4 hours ago.

Has this dude taken a blow to the head?

He's claiming Dave (an artisan who is now deceased) worked on the guitar.

We'll call the increase a "Van Gough premium."

Yeah, he’s taking quite a leap there.

Hers one with a decent top.  I got it from BCR.   Greg made this one and another with a bolt on for another member here from the same block of redwood l.  She's a beaut!

It was not her. Another guy who was with Dave the last few years I guess.......? Now not saying she isn't involved... unclear on that.

The price is up by $210.00 over this morning (when I first clicked the link, above).  Was $1,099 this morning.  Now $1,309.00.  Still likely a bargain, but certainly less so.

Reminds me of this old saying:

Questioning something is valid, but when it starts drawing attention from others, that's when sellers get greedy.

Oh Christ.  Here we go again.

"Just found out this was worked on by owner of Robin Guitars in 2022..."

Maybe. Maybe not. We'll never know.

The funny thing is that Dave would laugh at this.  I bought a Murphy Lab Les Paul and I think Tom built it from the ground up.  He didn't, but that's my story and I'm sticking to it.

If I had a dime for every bullshit story that a seller flung my way I'd be rich lol.

That being said, I'd be buying the guitar not the story. $1200 shipped for a 2022 Robin seems like a really good deal. I had a couple of USA Robin Rangers that were really good guitars and I suspect that 2022 would be at least as good if not better.

No question it's a good deal.  There won't be any more of 'em.  Not really.

$1100 shipped - not a bad deal for a 1990 Houston made Robin.

This Robin reminds me of a Yamaha SG-3000 in white that I tried to sell for months at 2K ten years ago or so.  I got drunk one night after I'd about given up on selling it and raised the price to $2,500 and got an immediate offer for 2K.  So, it's a fickle market.
