Gibson, inspired by . . . Hamer?
Dave Scepter replied to seeker's topic in Hamer Fan Club Messageboard
Yup, that's a Wayne Charvel creation when he worked for Gibson -
Did a double take on this Gibson for-sale in Facebook Market place. Yeah, its not exactly the same as a Chappie, but dang its close. Not in the market for FR guitars back then so had never seen this one before.

Explaining to Someone Why I Have So Many Guitars

I could vacation in the Bahamas. But thats gone in a week. I've had some guitars for decades, and could sell them for more than I bought. Can't sell a 25 year old vacation. -

Could have been a box for a Vanguard HB. Same size, basically same guitar except mahogany vs. korina, and the finish. Did the box have a serial number on it that matched yours? -
Is the phrase, "It's a reminder of what's to come," correct?
Saul Goodman replied to Saul Goodman's question in Ask the HFC Experts
Once again, I'm thinking it was an AI video that caught up on me. This time real video, real people, but it seems an AI text. I heard several things in the narration that made me think the guy was just a fucking retard but once again, garbage from AI. Thanks afor reminding me what the phrase was. -

Also this: you are eligible to bring the guitar back duty-free under the American Goods Returned (AGR) provision, but you must formally declare it and prove its U.S. origin to avoid potential fees. In other words, are you willing to go through all this mumbo jumbo?.. wait until all this nonsense ends?.. or wait till a comparable guitar shows up in the states? 🤷♂️

Whats Happened To Music? Doctor Who Version
crunchee replied to crunchee's topic in Hamer Fan Club Messageboard
Sorry about that, having laptop issues! I added the info to my original entry so it should be easy to find. BTW, some people on the YooToob channel already made the observation that the featured Beatles 'song' sounds a lot like a Ringo song. -

If you think things are bad now. here's a dystopian version of 1965, thanks to some time villain messing with the timeline: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v5=8KK8B5oqW=v4 For some reason I couldnt get it to imbed/load, but you can easily find it on YooToob, just look for 'What's happened to music' from the episode 'The Devil's Chord' on the Doctor Who YooToob channel. The reaction of The Doctor and his companion are priceless! Cilla Black and a classical orchestra aren't immune to the history being meddled with, either

https://photos.app.goo.gl/yudAwVW2Su1QWxP67 https://youtu.be/4MEMOe14vD0 Check out this youtube video and photo link. 1988 Hamer Chaparral Elite 5 string with a Kahler Whammy. The person I bought this from on craigslist many years ago said this bass used to belong to Matt Sharp of the band Weezer, but he had no way to prove it. I didn't really care because I liked the bass. Upon getting home, I found Weezerpedia records that do in fact claim that Matt Sharp did play a stripped down Hamer "Chaparal" bass with whammy bar. That being said, there's no way to confirm. Just an interesting tidbit. The bass has been sitting in it's case for over 5 years. When I removed the cavity to put a battery in, I noticed some of the red wires from the EMGs have disconnected, and I'm not sure where they are suppose to go. So, I'm going to say you HAVE TO REPLACE ALL THE ELECTRONICS although I think a person just has to wire them back up correctly. The EMGs sounded great when they were connected and had EQ bands. Very nifty when playing live and recording. Everything is structurally sound, plays great, and has lots of life left. Just have to figure out the wiring or just replace the pickups. Needs two more control cavity screws that are bigger than original (two holes have been stripped out). Comes with the original hardshell Hamer case. $1550 SHIPPING INCLDUED via paypal. Can also meet in central WI area.

Explaining to Someone Why I Have So Many Guitars
veatch replied to Dutchman's topic in Hamer Fan Club Messageboard
I compare how much I've spent on guitars (which has been surprisingly small given the return on the ones I've sold) and it is *far* less than a speedboat, a vintage muscle car, or even the car I'm currently driving would cost new. Hell, my buddy has spent more on his snowmobiles than I have in guitars. These are all fair things to spend money on. If you earn a living, you should have some say in what the "living" part means. -

veatch replied to Saul Goodman's question in Ask the HFC Experts
This is all very intriguing, but to the OP, I have frankly never heard "reminder of things to come". Maybe I'm too old or it's a regional thing. "A sign of things to come" is what I've heard. Or occasionally, "A reflection of things to come", but never a reminder. -
