I use a piece of 2” aluminum angle with two 1/4” jacks mounted in it. Harbor Freight magnetic parts dish keeps the tiny screws from getting lost.

I'm going to guess that the Gosila pictured above has the same electronics as the IYV. I really like that the IYV has a pull-switch on the volume knob that bypasses the preamp, and you don't even need a battery in it to play. I do most of my 'tone shaping' ("groan..." ) in an outboard preamp anyway (bass fly rig), and it is nice to not worry about how fresh your battery is. Most of my active basses have 'always on' preamps and it would be nice to have the passive option. The only bad thing about the IYV is that there is a slight audible "whoosh" in the volume knob when the preamp is engaged, I replaced the volume knob/switch and it's still there, so it's got to be somewhere in the preamp, - but not an issue at all if you use it passive. It seems I have s snip of the ad from when I bought the IYV, - they did used to be even cheaper.

yes, there are some very playable guitars for low cost, I had a Harley Benton HSS that I thought was quite good, I think I paid $110 and sold it for $200. I had a good experience with Eart headless (great neck, primitive body, decent pickups but with kind of low output), sold it to a local gigging jazz guy who bought it for a travel guitar. I have a fan fret multi scale IYV 5 string bass that is really good, I think it was $300 ish. Line 6 Helix pulled me into the digital world around 2017. Didn't care for the 'POD' before then, although I never had a problem with digital effects. Tried to embrace the Power Cab to fully enter the L6 ecosphere, but just didn't get along with it - Never sounded right or had enough oomph. After two tries, gave up and went back to my Deluxe Reverb or Twin. To be honest, I seemed to spend more time screwing around with tone of the Helix. No matter what I did, it seemed to be okay but not nailing the sound in my head. I finally stopped chasing it last year, and ended up trading in the Helix for the Fender Tone Master Pro. I have no use for capture, and my tone revolves around Fender amps, so it seemed to be a good fit. After running the unit through the paces, I found it to check all the boxes and sounds outstanding. so much so, in fact, I sold off the amps and picked up the FR-12 amp/speaker. It has more than enough juice (1000W class D) to handle anything I throw at it, and the tone controls on top allow you adjust just like you would a regular amp. I am a tech nerd of the highest order. I work in electronic test & measurement, have been a Ham radio operator for over 30 years, and build my own computers. The digital world is where I live and breathe. Like several here, I'm also an occasional weekend warrior. Being in my mid 60's like a lot of guys here, I want a light, low hassle rig setup that sounds good live and can also be used to record. The TMP and FR-12 fit that bill. Whatever your position is on the boneheaded moves of their CEO, the Fender gear works well at a reasonable price. I fully expect this rig to take me to the end of the line.

Seems they could be Classics or Burstbucker 1 & 2's, neither of which would be a deal-breaker for me. What I'm wavering on is the tone of an all hog LP which I have pretty well covered already. It is one sexy beast of a guitar though...
