Lockbody Posted December 1, 2007 Posted December 1, 2007 Let me start this off by mentioning the seller of this guitar Earachemyeye, Joe H. There is not one single person in the world (Save Cajunboy, who drove and met me in Miss for me to pickup my Standard.) I would recommend as better to buy a guitar from. From the staggering ammount of pictures, to the great packing job and emails, he was simply a pleasure to buy a guitar from. For this: An '88 Chaparral Duncan Custom in the bridge, Duncan Qtr pounder middle, and a Lil '59 in the neck. I like that '59. Doesn't sound a thing like its' full-sized cousin to me, but it does have nice single-coil qualities. I wished I had tried one a long time ago in my guitars with single coils. This is my first time with the Duncan Custom, but I do like it better that the Custom Custom, which I feel is little to loose in the low end for my tastes. A simply wonderful neck for me - wider, with a perfect "medium" size, not too thick, not too thin. As soon as I tuned it up, it felt like I had owned it for years. Stadium logo - natch The best of my Californian mixed with the best of my Standard and Vector. I liked Chaps, but I wanted a shortscale (God's scale), and I wanted a shortscale, but I didn't want the three seperate switches. I could not have scored a better Chap for me. This guitar gives me everything I want in a guitar: mahogany, ebony, great pickups, trem, boomers, "the look", there'll be no more buying. That's it. I'm out. This one's no closet classic, it's got its' fiar share of "uh ohs", but i like seeing guitars that show someones been playing them. Means they sound good. This one sure does, very versatile. A superswitch just might take this one over the top. I might not be shredder, but I like good guitars, and unless hard times fall, don't expect to see this guitar for sale again.
Guest pirateflynn Posted December 1, 2007 Posted December 1, 2007 Yep, trading on this board is the way to go.Congrats!
earachemyeye Posted December 1, 2007 Posted December 1, 2007 Thanks Bob! It was a pleasure doing business with you also. Glad to know one of my babies is in good hands. The HFC rules. Now I have to change my avatar;).Joe
BCR Greg Posted December 1, 2007 Posted December 1, 2007 I think Bobby and Joe are tools. But they are CUTE tools!
Lockbody Posted December 1, 2007 Author Posted December 1, 2007 Well, isn't that special? You know what they say, even the sharpest tool in the shed is still a tool.
Eric Weston Posted December 2, 2007 Posted December 2, 2007 I'm pretty sure that none of you tools deserve that fine ax.....it woulda looked way cool hanging in THIS tool's basement..... (and it would have been if I had never played a certain Standard at Bruce's)
BTMN Posted December 2, 2007 Posted December 2, 2007 MMM HMMM! That's a beauty. Glad I could help make this happen a lil easier by taking that other Red one off your hands. Cant wait to get it paid in full and in my hands.
Thundernotes Posted December 3, 2007 Posted December 3, 2007 there'll be no more buying. That's it. I'm out. You LIE!
Lockbody Posted December 3, 2007 Author Posted December 3, 2007 there'll be no more buying. That's it. I'm out. You LIE! Nope. That's it! I've been very blessed to have been able to afford the guitars I have now. I've let a good number of guitar go through my hands in search of some "keepers" to have as I get older. As the single wage earner in a familiy of three who's looking at private school for the kid, it's time to give up guitar horse trading in search of the "holy grail". The three I have are close enough. There's more important things to think about for the next few years.
DavidE Posted December 3, 2007 Posted December 3, 2007 There's more important things to think about for the next few years.See? He left himself an "out." ;-)
Lockbody Posted December 3, 2007 Author Posted December 3, 2007 There's more important things to think about for the next few years.See? He left himself an "out." ;-)Ha! As a 42yo with a 3yo, if I can survive getting her out of the house with any retirement left, much less a guitar or two, I'll be happy.
shredmeister Posted December 3, 2007 Posted December 3, 2007 Uh oh Joe - one less guitar means you have an extra space in the music room for ONE MORE AXE !!!!! There is a vacuum to be filled
earachemyeye Posted December 4, 2007 Posted December 4, 2007 Yea Bruce, I'm already planning but it's gonna take a while (read w.i.f.e).Joe
