  1. You wanna know whats really crazy? Guys been running a weekly add in the CT Post looking for a Bass player to cover Beatles tunes. Claim they have steady work, how I'll never know. But thats besides the point. Certainly are dedicated to finding someone.
  2. Welcome, Ya if the don't have the Pick right by now? thats gonna be a little difficult to do. Anyway the Monaco IIIs are the Bomb. And of the finishs I have seen, I like the RED the best. So what are ya playing for music with the Monaco?
  3. HBD............Hope the next year brings you all the Love, Peace and Happiness you desire!
  4. Oh you gotta have a Tele around. I like it. Seymours Tele pick-ups are probly his strong point.
  5. I thought it was held in place by the six TMs. Whats gonna be the Retail price? Figure about 60% of the list right? So you could still put yourself into a used Mint 58RI for that kind of cash.
  6. Won't be many of those sold with that headstock. And a few years they will be worth a small fortune...lol .. Unreal. Wow that silkscreened on too. I thought it might come right off. He went with a 57 in the neck and a Burstbucker 3 in the bridge. Definatly be a volume increase from neck to bridge. Sounds like its a long neck tenon also.
  7. They work "excellent" Damn Bro I wish I knew you were interested in one. I could have grabbed you a MINT used piece for $75. Check the New-Haven Craigslist. It was on their. Fellow was from Milford CT with one. They work very nicely though. I have a Visual Sound among a couple others. So I passed on the Tech 21. But they are decent especially if you could grab one for like $75. bucks.
  8. Yes it is.............First and most of all its profit. And that has always been the "ISSUE". When corporate management/manufacturing interferes with Artistic Quality? This is the fine-line that everyone has always debated. But if the Gretsch guitars are any indication of what is in store for Hamer? I would think they are in good hands and will be safe. There's no-doubt a spot in History and American guitar manufacturing for Hamer. What "exactly" will go on in Hartford CT remains to be seen. At a moments notice the MTHLY production schedule could change. You may very well see Guild electrics injected back into the line out of Hartford. Something is gonna happen. When the Hamer line was put on hold except for CS-orders? All this was already in the works. Believe that! That opens the door now to build whatever line FMCI wants to incorporate Or to re-design the Hamer line. You do realize this is "NOT" going to be limited to Hamer CS Orders. Not gonna happen. That move was in direct parallel with the move to get Jol out of their. You could believe FMCI didn't want to start a New Year of Hamers under Jol. Thats all that was. There will be a LINE of electrics built their. If its Hamer we will see by the 1st of next MTH I would think. But I see changes. I could see a steamlined Hamer line. And I could see Guilds making an entrance again. I could be way off also. This is only some thoughts stirring around in my head. But I believe this move was in the making for much longer than we know. The Namm show, the cut-back of the Hamer line for 2010. All this was part of this move. We have to see where Hamer is gonna go from here and more so where FMCI wants to take it. I'd be very surprized to see only CS orders though. After this last move the door is wide open for FMCI to impose their will now? The sales and what was ordered and the Stats I'm sure will play a part. But as I said, its just an educated guess. For all I know we could see CS Hamers built for years to come? But in my heart I just don't believe that now.
  9. There it is, and I agree meeting someone 1st thing the morning coming into work? No that doesn't sound like a very cordial parting. But manufacturing is very much that way. Especially when the economy is lean. Have to wait and hear the truth. Who knows right now? Could have been a severence or an alternative position also? I'm sure all that was offered and talked about. You have to wait and hear. Did us Proud with the Hamers though Jol. And its No Knock on Fender guitars.......... Its a knock on the way management and manufacturing are handled for the 50-60yo employee. The one that earns top salary and is close to retirement.
  10. San Dimas Strats are the Bomb.
  11. Look at this way. You now have the last edition USA Hamers. Jol will be Fine. I strive to be that Fine. Se what happens, All you can do. Fenders a great USA Comp.
  12. Yea I've been blown away with my NP-BE from Willcutt and have been seriously thinking of grabing another NP with a Quilt-Top. Have to really look things over though. I don't want a Mahogany back. I'actually want the same guitar I have either with a layered Quilt or Flame {something to that effect}. My maple NP has been a constant companion and though I have never really been a fan of Birdseye. I am very glad I didn't pass on my baby. I surely would have missed out on a piece that has grown to be a all-time favorite of mine. I'm not doing enough and have a collection I would need to cut if I ordered a Custom built Hamer. The difference in price from a Mint "used" model in existance and that of building a CS now is no-doubt significant. I have mixed emotions about Hamer and really hate to see a fantastic guitar be reduced to Custom orders. But, as mentioned many, many times. There is a large amout of basically all type of Hamers which presently could be had at a very good used price and great condition or easily repairable. You may have to wait a few moments till a specific guitar of interest comes along. But there haven't been many we haven't witnessed come across this forum in the past 1/2 year or so? Who knows, nothing is in stone right now. Should the economy change to a degree that manufacturing seriously increase's here in the USA, and import is taxed enough that the price here is competitive? [state of the Union Address last night] May very well see Hamer pick-up again?
  13. I'm anxious to see a Guild thats out of the Kaman factory. Are they out now? I haven't seen anything though I have heard this also. Is is all Acoustics?
  14. I grew up with the tube amps. Have gone the tube route since the start of playing. Wasn't untill maybe 05-06 I actually added a VOX into my repertoire of amps. I can't say I haven't tried to like SS amps, I have. I've pretty much kept up with the Digital Modeling, Solid Dtate and hybrids as they evolved. Fact is I just couldn't get with any of them untill pretty much recently. I tried a used 50-watt VOX by chance a few years back and wound up taking it with me. Surprizingly I have continued to use it. Its not hard to fool with a modeler or SS for a little bit. But to stick with one a few years? Now thats saying something as far as I'm concerned. Usually within a very short period I tire of them. A few Vox players have also told me they sound even better with a open cab instead of the sealed back combo as they are sold. I haven't tried it. But I still revert to the Fenders when I really want to get a good feel for a guitar. I just trust the tube amp tone in my heart more? They just sound SOOoooooo GOOD! I think recording direct with the Line 6 PODs has a good tone and without a doubt is usable. Much different than what they sound like to me with headphones on. In front of an amp they sound just terrible to me. But I do like the way they record. I like the Fender Deluxe model for recording. Anyway be sound-safe, go with the TUBES!
  15. Great to see them back. Excellent product!
  16. I'll bet it was, Sounds like a million of "Great" memorys!
  17. What was that College radio? Thats were you play the tape in reverse and no-one notices..lol
  18. The Way We Were and A Star is Born. That would be it. Oh ya she could sing. She sang in the 90's 2000? I'll look it up, nev-mind..................15th on the ALL-TIME Best Selling Artists list? Thats impressive. Had a bigger following than I remember.
  19. Whens the last time she recorded? Been years now, no?
  20. Be looking for an Adler/Rosewood real soon. Been klicking myself in the ASS since I missed that Blonde/Rosewood that jetattblue had for sale a bit back. But ya on Strats I prefer the Rosewood and a lighter weight 7-8lbs at most. Not a thing wrong with Maple boards or Ash bodies though. Just a personal thing with the Tone being warmer for me.
  21. This actually also crossed my mind when I posted this topic. Who is it that writes their lyrics? Is it the singer? When Nickleback first came out a few years back and that song "You Remind Me" hit the charts. They were also catching a lot of ink in all the major Guitar Magazines. I remember the magazine interviews with Chad [sorry I don't remember his last name]. And he went on talking about getting in trouble with the law. Going to jail for a short period. Hanging out in the bars and drinking constantly, his relationships and their rocky road. Much of what I have heard in these hit ballads, reminds me of his journey in life? I automatically assumed "he" wrote the lyrics. But as they have been going on and on with this winning formula [as mentioned above]. I'm wondering if in fact they are actually all written by him? Or if its a couple of the band menbers? or if like with so many Great singers. Someone else is writting the lyrics for them? Or a combination of all? Probly the later "I'm assuming"? But my point being, the lyrics continue to remind me of this early trials and tribulations. The music [also mentioned above] is pretty simple 3-4 chord progressions with his lyrics and played as ballads. I don't believe I remember any one band in the past doing "SO MANY" of these type ballads. And the formula continuing to be a success? I can't think of another band? Don't get me wrong their may be many. I could see where people who are not playing music and those who are, would be attracted to this band. My old lady will drive and sing right along to one of their cuts. And I know the song is touching her emotions, its plain to see. As far whats art and are they really musically talented? I also think "art" is in the eye of the beholder. As far as any comparison to Danny Gatton? Thats a whole different topic. You ever get a chance to view his Strickly Rythem video II. Give it a watch, the guy is jaw dropping. He covers every single type of music fluidly and bounces from one to the other like he invented these styles. Why he never reached a level of success many believed he should have? I guess it depends on how you define success. Many don't equate monetary gain with success? Just Sayin.... Danny did leave behind a bunch of music and videos done for Star Licks. As was with Roy Buchanan? Tragic is the story of both. Also many artists have been very successfull doing little more then 3--4 chord songs. Just off the top of my head Bob Dylan and John Lee Hooker come to mind. I don't know that mentioning Nickleback in the same sentence with Hooker or Dylan is appropriate either. I have a large section of music by Dylan and Hooker and I have been listening to both for many many years. But the Nicklback rise has been interesting for sure. I honestly didn't believe you would hear much from them after "You Remind Me". Then when "Rock Star" hit I thought "well this will be about it"? Man have I been so wrong. They keep coming back like a bad habit! I do think they are good for MUSIC in general. Now follow me here. They attract a large audience with their particular style of music and popularity. While they do not interest me. I do like the idea that are re-directing the musical thinking of todays youth. Instead of the majority of children lost in Rap and mindless drival like that. At least they are being taken in a direction that will open up many musical doors for them down the road. Lets face it, your only gonna listen to so much Nickleback and my question is. When you take them out of your CD player, who are you gonna put in Next? If for no other reason and nothing else. I do like them for this purpose! Equating music with success, is sort of like the same as equating education with success? We associate them together. But yet they are seperate and very different concepts.
  22. You know thats an interesting take. I also like 3-Doors Down a Bit more. And they do have that formula down cold..Agree'd. I never thought about the Candian connection. Must be the cleaner COLD AIR up their. LOL. North Pole polarity or something....
  23. I wish it was ME ALSO! lol
  24. I don't "hate" Nickleback. I don't hate anyone. I'm not a large KISS fan either though I do think they are a very talanted band. Make-Up,.... never was into it. I'm just commenting. Your certainly welcome to throw my opinion right out the window. It, and a dollar won't get you coffee in the morning. Definatly don't let it upset your emotions. I listen and play Blues and Blues-Rock, and I often go back to the Delta Blues and Jazz like John Coltrane. Lot of guys here think I should give that a F88King break already? But it doesn't stop me from playing or listening to it. Its what speaks to me? Thats all their is to it. If Nickleback speaks to you and you feel that passionatly about them? By all means continue to listen to them. I get them, I hear that tricky little lyrical thing they seem to have going on here and there. I could tell you this. Whoever is writting the lyrics is good at it. He sems to continue to come up with a winning formula. But MUSICALLY? I'd rather listen to KISS!
