  1. I just stare at that guitar and go....."oh, my...." If there is a guitar I'd hang on my wall AND play, it would be this one....
  2. "sigh"....and I'm tapped-out..... Could you, um, perhaps stick this under your bed for a couple of months and then re-offer it????
  3. Huh....I check out the pedal/effects scene over at TGP and some guys over there have over 20 different fuzz pedals.....I'm starting to comprehend.....thx!
  4. What are the advantages of running multiple fuzz devices in a single signal chain? Are the circuits 'different', and provide different flavors of fuzz you add/remove as-needed? I have a Spaceman Gemini III that is so versatile, I can't see adding multiple fuzz units to a single circuit.
  5. It is a NEW neck from the Hamer factory - same symptom/cause as yours. The issue was not related to impact/damage, but a split.
  6. I've touched-base with the owner, and heard some good things. I think I'll pursue it.
  7. Was this a factory job? I R_E_A_L_L_Y want a scepter...... Also, will he ship?
  8. Interesting - I need a new price-quote for such a Studio. I have a situation come-up. My local music store owner has been telling me he 'owns' a Hamer. He's been keeping it in the back of the store. After a few vague conversations, I asked him to see it one evening. Its a brand-new, NOS Hamer Studio with the same specs pictured above. Certificate, tools, cleaning cloth in-bag. Thing is, he's never played it. Once. Then it hit me - its not 'his' ownership-wise. Its unsold Store Stock. New. 2003 'we think' from the serial number. He bought it from another local music store that had it in inventory, but they never sold it before they closed. So, he stuck it in the back of the store for the past ten years and never pulled it out. He wants to sell it - to me. Whenever I'm ready. I think I'll offer full-boat, crowns or no.
  9. Saw that over the weekend - nice leopard-print felt covering. Who puts an amp like this 'on-ice' for fifteen years???
  10. I posted some images here: https://plus.google.com/photos/106066548940429962135/albums/5836462379816751537#photos/106066548940429962135/albums/5836462379816751537
  11. I have a couple of Diablos available.... http://www.hamerfanclub.com/forums/topic/58101-trans-green-diablo-w-new-duncans-exc-case-and-all-candy/ I also have a rather beat-up Diablo that I'd let-go for cheap as well. Natural finish, some dents/dings, autographed by Mark Durante of KMFDM...new pot and all hardware present. Can offer pics if interested.
  12. Happy Birthday! Looking forward to another trip to BCR for sage advice, tech assists, and whatnot....always a great place to stop-in whenever I'm in-town...
  13. They're on all the time - they re-up their auctions when a guitar doesn't get any bids.
  14. Your thoughts on MojoTone cab/grill refurb?
  15. Yes - there is video series where he talks about the rig he used, and plays the exact guitar through the exact amp: http://www.mr335.tv/index.html?channel=steely&videofile=mr335/steely/steelyrig SNAP! A great player's gonna sound great. A mediocre player's gonna sound mediocre. People get so hung up on names and mojo and start hearing what they wanna hear. Remember those Folger's commercials, where they served cheap store-bought coffee in "fine restaurants?" "I have to tell you that the designer boo-teek coffee you loved was really just freeze-dried, ground dogshit!" Hold the phone - http://www.mr335.tv/index.html?videofile=mr335/interview/335tv_amplification&channel=rig
  16. I ain't buying this - Ferrari will make far-fewer than 10,000 cars a year, and they will continue to thrive. There will always be boutique and niche markets - for everything. The trick is staying reasonably independent and relevant to the consumer, and the market will be there.
  17. Now that Hamer is 'on permanent hiatus', I would think one could design and produce any headstock logo decals and transfers without restrictions?
  18. Yeah, that was my point using Santana as an example. Getting the guitar into artists' hands, getting them seen together onstage, in ads, in interviews, etc. Brand credibility. It doesn't really matter how old, tired, overused, compressed, collaborated, or irrelevant Santana is now. His endorsements almost single-handedly launched both PRS and Mesa/Boogie in the '80s when they needed it. He was a rock guitar god, and one of the few to break ranks with Gibson, Fender, and Marshall. Well before Santana became a historical relic, PRS and Mesa were solidly established and able to attract plenty of endorsers. Did Hamer ever have an endorser of the stature of Santana at his peak? Probably not, but Hamer had 'trending' endorsees, which can be extremely valuable, especially in today's market. In the 80s they had Steve Stevens, and Hamer named a model after him. They had Tommy Shaw and Jack Blades. Vernon Reid. It was as if when the 90s hit, the endorsees dried up overnight. After I made my original post I tried to think of well-known modern guitarists who publically played Hamers. I thought of the chick from the Paul Schaffer band, and Tom Dumont...and that's about it. Well, there was that guy from Linkin Park.....and then there was Gary Hoey......
  19. Santana a hack? Somebody's having too much eggnog....
  20. Grunge peaked -'nuff said. Grunge wanted the guitars Hamer was building at the time - Cobain didn't "shred", he wailed on a cheap, used Jaguar before anyone really wanted them. Foo Fighters didn't 'shred' - Hamer missed an opportunity to put a Standard in Dave Grohl's hands....he was already playing the crap-Gibson reissues...Green Day wanted guitars - Gibson stepped in...Ozzfest and the Warped Tour WERE ALL GUITAR BANDS......I could go on....that ain't "it"....nu-metal was taking off - Hamer knew what those players wanted, they just refused to connect with those players and build them what they wanted on-stage.....the market was THERE.....
  21. Sorry, but.....if I wanted to own a 'custom' guitar made by the Japanese, I would have bought an ESP. I didn't want one then, I don't want one now. The best electric guitars in the world are made in the United States of America, thanks. There is a big difference. I know that makes the Ibanez/ESP/Epiphone crowd jealous, I don't care. There's a reason why the Slammer/XT series couldn't keep the company afloat - nobody wanted them. STILL don't. If consumers wanted MORE cheap, crap-sounding, mass-produced guitars, then why is Guitar Center going bankrupt, again? Sure, there are artists out there who are playing Ibanez and ESP/LTD instruments on-tour - they're doing that because Ibanez and ESP stepped-up to these musicians and said "we'll make you WHATEVER cool guitar you want, to your specs/wildest-dreams, and we'll put your picture on our ads for all the guitar magazines so all your fans can see that you're playing OUR guitar". Win-Win for everyone. Bazinga. Hamer USED to do this, and they sold a lot of USA-made guitars doing it. Kiss, Judas Priest, Night Ranger, Krokus, Lita Ford, ZZ Top, No Doubt, Linkin Park.....Hamer could have picked-up band endorsements NOW, on a dime. IF they were still-around.
  22. I was thinking how cool it would be to order a Gold-Top Studio, cream binding, Tumbling Boomers on the fret-board, and a stadium logo'd headstock......
  23. Now up to 221 MILLION - the world has spoken. This dude ain't half-bad - score one for the Asian 'everyman' who can't dance. Make-up your OWN dance, and Take It To The BANK, homeboy! BTW, Hyuna is the new Beyonce - petite, sexy, and WITHOUT the shitty attitude or thug Boyfriend. You heard it here first.
  24. Interesting....can you make a youtube video with some good audio of this thing and post it?
  25. What issues posed the need for a slightly slanted bridge? Or is the Pickup slanted? Looks terrific, BTW....
