  1. I'm wondering what's going to happen to the unfinished guitars - somebody paid GOOD MONEY for those orders, I'd be on the phone with FMIC right now, giving them an earful warning them that they need to honor their obligations in fulfilling my order.
  2. Who owns the Silver Artist with the boomers?
  3. not for $2900 Considering a REAL, HFC-owned and well-documented Standard Korina was offered here for $1,800, this price-range is absolutely laughable. Must be tax season - why, yes it is!
  4. We've seen this guitar before - this was the Hamer Standard offered over at the "My Les Paul" forum, and I've communicated with the seller via TGP. The real owner used the guitar briefly for an animated video shoot (???) and that's it, so I was told. The owner did manage to ding-up the back pretty good, probably on some "punk rawk" belt-buckle. The guy is asking TOP DOLLAR for a guitar he has no paperwork on (no surprise for a punk band). When I was talking with him, he did NOT mention anything about Korina. Now the guitar is Korina, eh? What a surprise that the story changes to justify the price he is asking. I'd beware, if I were you....
  5. If there is a 'week' between CT and NH, I'd like to borrow it for a week.....and I like to drive, so I can transport it from CT to NH in that week to make that happen.
  6. Tube distortion has limits - Phaez mentioned this on their website in designing one of their tube amps for a client to "have as much tube-distortion as possible". Marshall hit the wall in 1989, hence the JCM-900. You're not going to get Dimebag/Pantera distortion from just tubes (I believe Dime's Randalls had solid-state preamps), and those that prefer just-tubes for distortion are not playing anything approaching modern Metal music. Compare tube: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_o7F6uxKk-8 Solid State (I've never heard a tube amp produce the tone heard at 2:11): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=anhe1yvhhts
  7. IMHO, its a BIG STAGE, fellas.....surely, there's room for everyone to get up there and trade a few licks for old-times sake. If these guys were "Professional", they'd bring everyone together, rehearse a few tunes where everyone could contribute a part or two, and make it happen. G-n-R did it. Metallica did it for some Anniversary gig (Mustaine was there, played great. Newsted played/sang with Trujillo, etc. etc.). If these guys would just act like ADULTS, this would be easy.....
  8. When the going gets tough, the tough get angry. Old-school "three chords and the truth" - Battalion of Saints, the Exploited, Fear, G.B.H., Black Flag, Gang Green, Agent Orange.....and then some Miles Davis for the cool-down lap.
  9. 1995 Fender USA Blues DeVille 4x10 combo, am thinking of swapping it for a USA ProSonic....
  10. If, in-fact, the guitar is MINT, I would consider paying that.....on a layaway plan....lol.
  11. Watching Stanley handle a guitar is like watching Danica Patrick handle a race-car. Bookies should make odds as to how many pieces are left after the 'show'.
  12. Other than lacking a plain flat top, you've just described every Hamer Studio ever made...... The most under-appreciated, yet sonically-dynamic model for cheap money. A guitar that can compete, head-to-head, with a Gibby LP and WIN. Used ones go ALL-DAY-LONG for sub-$1,000. Doesn't every Hamer fan have 2-3 already, though?
  13. New Hamer USA Studio NOS, Vintage Natural, never did get the build-year, one of these days I'll look. 1992-1993 Hamer USA Sunburst Archtop Custom, Orange-burst, slim neck, B&C, with a stock JB in the bridge (thanks, Uncle Greg/BCR!) Early 2000's Washburn HM-20 Indonesian re-issue, my "what-was-I-thinking" purchase that I need to unload. Amp-wise, both my Laney UK 20-watt head and my 1995 Fender USA Blues DeVille were both restored/refinished by Mojotone and my local Amp Tech. Don't be fooled, I still suck.
  14. Sorry, but.....WHO is Link Wray? The only no-brainer for me was Nirvana, and perhaps Hall/Oats and Gabriel.
  15. For every story about the guy who overprices his guitar, there's the guy who walks into another store with something really valuable, but equal level of education on what he has and its true value. That guy gets royally taken-advantage of by the expert behind the counter. Not every pawn shop calls-in an appraiser and spills the beans that a seller's collection of 'whatever' isn't worth $50 but $50,000. What really happens is, the expert keeps his mouth shut and gets the goods for a song until the poor sap is out the door with his $50. Not everyone is blessed with the skills to perform accurate market research before trying to sell something. Hey, we all make mistakes, and integrity can be a sliding-scale on both sides of the counter.
  16. I've bought from a variety of countries using PayPal, uncluding somewhat-sketchy places like Bulgaria and the Ukraine. Its fine.
  17. Is that tumbling boomers I see?
  18. I'll bet this is the one Brent has his eyes on...
  19. This. I had a guitar shipped to me that only had a soft-case. There was about 6 inches of bubble-wrap in every direction around this guitar before it was wrapped in layers of cardboard as a 'box'. It took several minutes to cut the guitar ot ouf this stuff, but the guitar arrived mint and was still in-tune.....and this was for a $500 'import' guitar. Not a rare USA-made Hamer Standard - I'd put that sucker in an armored Flight case, THEN box it with peanuts and bubblewrap. Its not like Jol is making more of them.....
  20. Thanks a lot, man. How about this one, anybody.. I saw photos of this on the Hard Rock Cafe's website, being one of their Top pieces of Rock momorabilia in their inventory....
  21. We still have custom orders in process. I have one on my bench right now.Bm I'd sure like to see pics and backstory to 'The Last One'....
  22. TUMBLING BOOMERS! Wish I had ordered a Standard with those.....
  23. It's the "BIGGER" one for that style of headstock....was there one bigger?
  24. No Affiliation. This Un-played Unicorn, with Stadium Logo, at this price, is a STEAL, IMHO: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Hamer-Eclipse-Electric-Guitar-Made-in-USA/171053503594?rt=nc&_trksid=p2047675.m1851&_trkparms=aid%3D222002%26algo%3DSIC.FIT%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D261%26meid%3D8234704384528150137%26pid%3D100005%26prg%3D1088%26rk%3D1%26sd%3D111088328593%26 If I didn't find my own 'new' unplayed guitar recently, I would buy this, no-questions.
  25. Just curious - why are NEW guitars hung so darned close so they can bang against each other? Doesn't seem like the rack is hurting for space to spread the work apart and prevent dings.....
