  1. Both Jim/Maury and Steve Goodman laid down some tasty guitar tracks in their prime.
  2. Just communicated with Jay via "Bookface". I've lost both my parents the last six months, so I'm numb to grief at this point...but this type of thing hits you square in the chest. If he had lived local to me, we absolutely would be close friends and would give each other shit on a daily basis. I told him when the time comes to (like a Pirate) give no quarter and accept no quarter.
  3. I had no idea what Jay's real name was until today. Hell, I knew Ed Rechts was a nom de plume, but if I'd known his actual name, I'd have accepted his "Bookface" friend request ages ago <Doh!>. We had some truly rich and entertaining convos via this site (they now show him as "Deleted Member"). I'm re-reading them now with fondness and a laugh. Cancer is a brutal, equal opportunity killer. I fucking hate it. To know that it sucks the life out of humans as clever, witty, and irreverent as Jay makes it worse. Cheers to the Ron Swanson of the HFC. Or perhaps Ron was the Ed Rechts of Parks & Recreation.
  4. At high noon on Saturday, you shall be subjected to 40 lashes with a wet noodle and a 48-hour period in an isolation booth with an endless loop of Rosalita playing.
  5. Jim Croce was truly great. Steve Goodman, too. That era produced some incredibly gifted writers, story tellers, and players.
  6. Pretty sure OJ is in hell, but...uhhh....Oh, I get it. You meant OJ as in orange juice. But seriously, that is a great and believable story.
  7. Mike Love's version of the band is like ordering Beach Boys tickets from Wish. It has some resemblance to the real thing...but the real thing it ain't.
  8. I think he's a distant cousin of '80s lounge lizard Jackie Rogers, Jr.
  9. My band opened for him in Raleigh in '94. A monster player and genuinely nice guy. He played my P-90 Special for a couple of minutes and said, "Hmm. Nice guitar."
  10. I can play bass, but i'm not a bassist. If I was, I would want either that one, a FBIV, or Blitzbass as my weapon of choice.
  11. It turned out great, Kiz. I mean...it's phallic...err...fantastic!
  12. I like how they addressed the upper fret access on this reboot. The headstock is fine, however I do prefer the banana on this body style.
  13. Brad and Joe each had one IIRC. I think Brad played his mini Standard in Chiquita video.
  14. Based on a deep dive I did years ago, I think all of the Kalamazoo-made Generators had that red script logo..
  15. Those were some of the coolest non traditional designs. Wish they'd caught on and made in larger numbers back then!
  16. Paging The Shark to the natural finished, flamed maple courtesy phone.
  17. Jenny is much nicer. 867-5309.
  18. You're welcome, Kiz. I aim to please.
  19. I've always thought the Roxie model looked like a sperm whale. Now, with that aquamarine flake job, it really looks like a sperm whale!
  20. Four months since the last update. Who is the custodian of Special #5 now?
  21. Hey, Gene,: Any idea where the #5 Special is at the moment?
  22. Status check on Wyldbil Pirate Special #5. Any updates?
