  1. just to clarify, i wasn't doubting cream or clapton's influence. i just don't dig listening to their stuff. it's the same w/ me for a lot of influential music (dixieland/bigband/bebop/free jazz, sinatra/elvis, early beatles, gregorian chants, whatever).
  2. haven't seen the dvd, but all the talk made me curious, as i've never heard more than the 4 tunes that are on classic rock radio. so, i bought their "best of" cd. now i know why they only play sunshine/badge/ulyesses/white room on the radio. they bore the piss outta me, ymmv.
  3. i'm always irritated when i finish before her, ha.
  4. are you abusing MM's over hamers these days?
  5. happy b-day, broseph!
  6. the acoustic tone won't replace a real acoustic for solo gigs or recording, but works great for me in my acoustic duo (other guy has a martin A/E, so its a good blend). no probs for me on intonation, but it depends on the string gagues. the 3 holes are on early duos (newer ones have an F hole). switches are regular ol' pickup selector, and a mini switch to select outputs (mag, piezo, or both).
  7. 1) i hate you. 2) ignore these other clowns, the most versatile hamer is the duotone. get a high gain humbucker in the bridge, a phatcat in the neck. boom! - rawk, jazz, acoustic, its all there. i love mine. the wooden bridge, neck phatcat pup, & semi-hollow spruce top give it a nice woody tone thats kinda a cross between a solidbody & a jazzbox.
  8. Wow - I saw that too! They also played "Thela Hun Ginjeet" which REALLY freaked me out! i rode my bike to the mall the next day and bought "discipline".
  9. me too! i was the biggest rush fan in high school, our garage bands set was 2/3 rush tunes. saw rush on the "grace under pressure" tour at the texxas jam (i was forbidden from going, so i snuck out and went anyway, grounded for months after but worth it). lost interest after GUP, but today i still listen to fave tunes from hemispheres/permanent waves/moving pictures.
  10. i will add a +1 to using 15's for your mains over 12's. i also have those same yorkville 15's that greg uses, but i loaded JBL 15's in them, they kickass. also use a yamaha powered mixer w/ 200w for mains & 200w for monitors. this is fine for the bars and restaurants we (acoustic duo) play (a few big rooms, but mostly small dives).
  11. +1 on fred. also, seeing king crimson perform "elephant talk" on fridays (ABC's short lived answer to SNL). hearing sco's "a go go" for the 1st time, as well as pantera's "revolution is my name". i used to play "a national acrobat" on sabbath bloody sabbath over & over on my 8 track tape player in 6th grade, talk about spooky.
  12. read it, learn it, live it.
  13. sweet!
  14. i had a SG w/ a kahler. i'd post the pic of my 80's metal band w/ the SG but mc chris will make fun of me again. ahhh, phuck him, haha hey, i just realized that i used to have a hamer strap!!! forgot about that.
  15. Very funny about the DMB profiling. A: You know how I know you're gay? B: How? A: You listen to Coldplay. did you watch that "you know how i know you're gay?" scene in the special features (of 40 yearold virgin)? in the movie its only 2 lines, but they do about 20 of 'em in the outtakes, its hilarious! you know how i know you're gay? because your dick tastes like shit.
  16. hate dave. went to his show (free tix); GREAT rhythm section & sax, but i couldn't stand dave or the worlds whitest black fiddle player, ha.
  17. r/e tommy tutone, i gotta disagree, turdus. what about "angel say no", & "cheap date"? i was in jr high at the time and rock radio (Q102 & KZEW in dallas) played both of these great tunes all the time. so much so that a few years ago when a pal bought a turntable, i transfered both tunes from vinyl to cd, and i still listen to 'em today. i do agree w/ your comments r/e the plimsouls, i saw 'em live around that time and they were excellent.
