  1. funny chit!!! nice to have the ol' rechts back!
  2. found this old photo of my metal rig back ~1986. cab was a nice homemade mesa clone w/ 3 or 4 different brands of speakers. crazy loud amp! i got it after blowing up a 50w sound city w/ a power soak, ha.
  3. jaye has the look! dude, doesn't the wallet chain scratch up your ax?
  4. my band last summer (thanx to bobbymack for hooking me up w/ the gig);
  5. HAHAHAHHAHAHA my petrucci kicks SERIOUS ass piezo wise. Hence, I'm agreeing with the everwise SILENTMAN. As a bonus, the trem stays in tune like a ROCK even w/diving. aren't you the guy who plays thru a digitech and a powered monitor? bada-BING!!!!! i'm on fire! i kill me!!!! seriously, i would rather have piezo saddles to run a synth than the bulky roland hex pup.
  6. note to self: don't let lou mix my cd. JOKE!!!! who's the hot chick in your avatar?!?
  7. if you are going for an acoustic sound, the piezo's on a metal bridge solidbody will probably leave you disappointed. compared to a duotone, bobbymacks piezo equipped artist custom (that i owned for a few months) didn't measure up tonewise on the piezo output, and its a high end semihollow w/o a floyd. i'd try one before spending time & money on modifications.
  8. yep, ALIVE. also DRESSED TO KILL, & PARANOID (esp "faries wear boots" & "war pigs"). great hard rawk tones. as a youngster i also loved the music of zep, jimi, lizzy, and rush, but more for tunes/playing.
  9. i just put a weber blue dog in a thiele 1x12 cab this weekend, sounds great. i prefer it to the V30 for clean to mid gain sounds (i also have a V30, but i left it in my 4x12). plus its not as bright as the V30, so it helps tame the bright tones of my G&L & univalve.
  10. HHB came over a few weeks ago w/ his 58 jr. it sounded so good we just passed it back and forth, bashing powerchords and shaking our heads w/ amazement!! i would like to hear it next to a korina hamer jr w/ a wraparound, but it definately out rawked all my guitars w/ its beautiful fat ringing ac-dc tone, unreal.
  11. i LOVE that tune, esp the riff in 13 (i think?). i think phil lynott's lyrics are better than most; "there are people who dispise you, who analyze and criticise you, they'll scandalize and tell lies 'til they realize they should apologize, too. don't let them comprimise you, be wise too, you can do anything you wanna do".
  12. huh? haha gotta agree. but hey, i'm cheap, errr, realistic.
  13. al dimeola, john mclaughlin, paco delucia, & steve morse, all together on acoustics. went back in high school ~'84, at a ~1000 seat theater. there was supposed to be 2 shows, we had tix for the 2nd show. got there early, and there was no ticket takers or security, just an open door w/ amazing acoustic shredding wafting out. we walked in, the place was packed, so we walked to the front and sat in the asile. watched ~35 minutes, amazing!! found out the 2nd show was cancelled, so we got a full refund on our tix!! i was a big dimeola fan, but i gotta say that morse stole the show; everyone but morse was doing that "fri nite in SF" style tremelo picking & overplaying, but morse just busted out w/ some bluegrass and soulful bendy licks and really stood out. ps- also gotta give props to the 4-5 texxas jams i went to in the mid 80's. i forget exact lineups, but i saw gary moore (w/ ian paice on drums), ozzy w/ jake, rush, VH w/ sam, metallica, deep purple (made out w/ a "perfect stranger", hot little chick that i woulda took home except she lived in waxahachie and i didnt wanna drive her home the next day!!)... good times.
  14. really too many to list; seems they book much more genre specific openers in the last 25 years.
  15. HAPPY B-DAY TOM & DOOGIE!!!!
  16. plus, the fans will have more $$ in their pockets for band merch.
  17. wild angels? love that flick.
  18. typically ,all but the biggest headliners PAY to play ozzfest. the exposure & merch makes it worthwhile.
  19. i thought the 2nd guitar (purple strat) sounded best, but maybe it was the only one that he used the neck pup on (?). we sometimes do "purple rain" at acoustic duo gigs, it goes over pretty good.
  20. http://cgi.ebay.com/90S-HAMER-SLAMMER-SERI...1QQcmdZViewItem saw this today. my buddy has one just like it, slammer series (earliest & best of the imports). just add some GFS pups and a set up, it would be a killer cheap tele.
  21. ...said the guy who gigs w/ tech21's!! i know, i know, TM60's kick ass (i used to have a TM10). ps- buy the LP!!!
