al dimeola, john mclaughlin, paco delucia, & steve morse, all together on acoustics. went back in high school ~'84, at a ~1000 seat theater. there was supposed to be 2 shows, we had tix for the 2nd show. got there early, and there was no ticket takers or security, just an open door w/ amazing acoustic shredding wafting out. we walked in, the place was packed, so we walked to the front and sat in the asile. watched ~35 minutes, amazing!! found out the 2nd show was cancelled, so we got a full refund on our tix!! i was a big dimeola fan, but i gotta say that morse stole the show; everyone but morse was doing that "fri nite in SF" style tremelo picking & overplaying, but morse just busted out w/ some bluegrass and soulful bendy licks and really stood out. ps- also gotta give props to the 4-5 texxas jams i went to in the mid 80's. i forget exact lineups, but i saw gary moore (w/ ian paice on drums), ozzy w/ jake, rush, VH w/ sam, metallica, deep purple (made out w/ a "perfect stranger", hot little chick that i woulda took home except she lived in waxahachie and i didnt wanna drive her home the next day!!)... good times.
