  1. NAH...... Bruce is the BEST...after a couple days of cuddling a sick, miserable child, I was getting pretty antsy. Bruce was cool enough to take me out for a couple o' the BEST beers that I've had....a great guy.
  2. Thanks Everybody!! I've had an alternatingly (is that a word?) awesome & awful bday so far good news first- I started my birthday (midnite) with the Orange Sparkle Standard over my shoulder and a glass of Guinness in my hand....at The Press Bar in St. Cloud which is ALWAYS a PARTY. We had two rounds of Jagermeister brought up to the stage....so SOMEbody must have liked us My wife (gotta love her) made blueberry coffee-cake and scrambled eggs for breakfast while letting me sleep in this morning. The ugly parts- My youngest, 4 yr old Maia, woke us up this AM about 7-ish by standing in the hallway crying that her tummy hurt immediately followed by the sound of her stomach contents splattering on the hardwood floor (My wife got up and took care of it, again-GOTTA love her) After breakfast I went out to unload the gig machine and was slapped in the face by the first snow of the season.... AAARRRGHH!!!! I don't mind snow...in DECEMBER!! NOT on my birthday And the wind is gusty like a mofo too...its COLD out. I had to break out my winter jacket. And Gene....you have WAAAY too many cool guitars... I HATE YOU ( in the best possible way!) For you... I took a few pics of the OS Standard in all its 'sloppy, rode hard & put away wet' glory. She DOES clean up nice though edit to add- LIFE IS GOOD!!!!
  3. Yup, been there too.......take a little break, find a couple dudes in the same boat as you (including OGG&BG) Come back stronger than ever next time.....there are ALWAYS good players looking for a gig.....its just a bitch finding them sometimes.
  4. Thanks......and thanks for coming out too. I had a good nite, except for the sore wrist, which that single-cut body does NOT help. Other than that, the guitar is kinda inspiring to play (like your Newport or T51 or Vanguard or Standard or 25th Ltd or, or........ )
  5. Posting chick pix is MCChris's dept.........but here is our newest fan and photographer of the evening. Hanging with The King edit- the pic was taken by her fiance (lucky SOB )
  6. --> QUOTE(David B @ Sep 6 2008, 08:19 PM) ← She wants you! I could be her dad......ALMOST
  7. Some cutie took a bunch of pics of the band at our gig last night.....she hit me with a myspace friend request today and I found these on her page The new(to me) guitar looks as good as it sounds
  8. Suh-weeet guitar!!!!!
  9. Another Rivera (KnuckleHead) guy here.....and I find Marshall 1960's do pretty well underneath. Those are some FINE amps ( I want 'em all but that's Kurt's dept.) notice that my rig is, uh, .....on a stage and gonna be on another tonite.....and another tomorrow
  10. Great pics Al!!!! I haven't been out west in almost 10 yrs....gotta change that in the next couple of years!
  11. Positive vibes on the way pal.....a double dose.
  12. This moves some air. I wasn't gonna bring it all to my gig this weekend, cuz the soundguy's a douche. Now, I'm thinking that I should........cuz the soundguy's a douche
  13. I agree totally with all that, and I agree that your orange sparkle Standard is a special guitar. I had the pleasure of checking it out in the basement of the Muse and the only reason why I didn't ask Bruce to sell it to me is because I couldn't imagine anyone wanting to sell it. You are a lucky man, Weston. That one is in my top 5 all-time Hamers that I've personally seen. Suh-weeet...I should bring it Saturday then? ( I was going to anyways )
  14. I had a rough start with Explorers.... I had one 20 years ago or so and only held on to it for 2 months. It was heavy as hell and wouldn't stay in tune worth a damn. I thought they looked awesome tho'. I never even picked up another until BruceM had a jam and unveiled Black Bart ( a black mahogany Standard) I played it about a minute and it was hopelessly out of tune. It was strung with .009's I think, probably new ones......and .009's can't hang with me (or vice versa). SirDan played it and he made it sound great...he ended up buying it.... I still never had a big jones for an Explorer until a few HFC jams later. Bruce had a couple new guitars, a silver Standard and an orange sparkley one. He opened up the case for the orange one and I said something like....Its a custom.....WITH DOTS!!! ( I like dots alot more than crowns, and I HATE neck binding.....I know, I'm weird ). I had to play it, so we started out the jam with some Funk 49 & other Joe Walsh type stuff and.....from the first notes....the guitar just FIT. It hung right, the neck was perfect, big like my Studio, but not quite a bat. Notes just seemed to fly out of that guitar, it was like I'd played it a million times.....I didn't knock it out of tune, and it sounded awesome ( I LOVE when that happens) Thanks to Bruce.....I play it every gig now
  15. This was a couple o' months ago....up in Brainerd The ol' Centaura still RIPS!!!
  16. I blend the pickups all the time so I prefer two separate volumes, I like to set & forget the master tone at whatever sounds best for the stage (or room) acoustics. The stock set-up is fine with me. regarding pure signal path- if an Esquire is better than a Tele, then a Strat must REAALLY SUCK tone with three pickups.....right? I'll take a good player with average gear over a mediocre player with "the best" any day  There comes a time to put down the cork and pick up a guitar.....
  17. That's not very nice!!! (ya tease) It IS a great player tho'
  18. I like it right where it is Prince's hometown.
  19. My deep sympathy out to you & your family...
  20. HELL YEAH, thanks for posting
  21. Last month, up in Brainerd
  22. DB Cooper- Thurs. 8-11:30 at The Narrows in Maple Grove ( used to be Pulaski's Palace). Anybody who wants some schoolin' in chicken pickin' tele guitar should attend....I'm just subbing in for their regular rhythm guy and I only do it for the paid guitar lesson....(I get money to learn from a master!! I love this racket!!)
  23. Yeah.....I wouldn't let my wife hold my FAVORITE Hamer either....nekkid or not.
