Mi humble opinion, having had many of each: -Hamers play better, and usually sound better too (to me) -PRS are much prettier, in an enough high degree to make them preferable to me -Ultimately, I have dumped both for new Gibsons: they are making their best stuff in ages, such that there is no reason to have an "alternative" to Gibsons, which has really been the "leit motiv" of both brands since their inception.

The moment I heard that song for the first time, my life literally changed forever. -Tone: (I believe this thread is/was about this): "Can´t get enough", by Bad Company. Goosebumps, to this day. -Musician: I was a drummer until I saw Albert King, playing live. Truly pivotal moment for me.

Disturber, congratulations. You have the most beautiful Hamer ever made. I tried to have it custom made last year, but they said no. I dislike the Hamer headstock very much, and actually, it makes the same effect on me, when looking at one, than listening to Celion Dion.

Aesthetics? Not too high on Hamer's priorities. When your goal is to sell VERY few quantities of guitars, you can get away with it. Tastes vary a lot, so here will always be a small percentage of the population that do think they look nice. But I agree with you.

The US are almost in recession, guys. My guess is, it will soon be. It will show in the numbers later. Expect sales of gear, especially high ticket items, to tank heavily. Wonder why even "Virtuosos" are coming out for sale? Hum......when your 401K, and your home value tank, you really want to sell some stuff. My guess is, you are going to see LOTS of valuable stuff at incredible prices in the coming months. That may be a reason why you see less activity from dealers, such as in guitar shows.

T-51s are amazing guitars. My T-51F was the bomb, and I really miss it. Having said that, all guitars are different, and you can find gems in almost every brand/model. As good as my Hamer T-51F was, I actually got a Fender Nashville Tele (MIM), that I found more playable, and with better tone. Go fugure. And I now have a Fender Highway One Texas Tele, the model with Jumbo frets, that has a lousy looking finish on the body (looking close), but is an amazing player, sustains like crazy, and sounds wonderful. So, it is difficult, but if you try enough guitars...you might improve upon what you have. BTW, I am growing less and less impressed by cork sniffer guitars. For less that US$700, especially used a little, you will find many tremendous guitars these days, even many non-USA made ones.

Nah...you're not. This has been discussed on this board, at least since I joined, back in 98. My humble opinion? Jol, a great, great guy, and sucessful businessman, is somewhat retired already. He does not want to take risks anymore, and has not for years. Hamer produces very small quantities of instruments, apparently sells them all, and probably does not make, nor looses, any significant amount of money. Not having high-profile endorsers would be today a huge non-growth mistake, but the only explanation I can find is that Jol does not want o "gamble" anymore. He will "unveil" a new model every few years, and sell maybe 50 guitars of those, and somehow that still makes him happy, I guess. As production decreased, assuring sales, he even stopped communicating with fans, either here, nor in the Open Houses. No need for that anymore. It is (was, now) his company, and has (had) the right to do whatever he chose to do. I have not had much interest in Hamer products for years now, and I look with interest what Fender might bring to the companies future. If they disappear, that would not impact me too muchas a customer, but if the brand can be successfully re-launched, I would feel very satisfied, and even very proud of them. In today's market, that involves high profile players, period. Hamer has been, for me, one of the most glorious stories in guitar history, and does not deserve to slowly die into oblivion (which is happening, even though they keep selling all they make today).

If you say so, that's enough proof for me. The second was not a "point", it was a question (marked as such ). I obviously understand a bidding process. I thought Chris was talking about offers off-Ebay, where I just found surprising that someone would offer more than a price at which the seller would be happy, on a non-auction process.

Well, you learn something new everyday. Care to show an Ebay, or HFC deal link? Chris, I understand now. So, for example, someone offers his for, let's say, $3,000, and the buyer says, "No, I'll pay you $4,000, your price is too low"?

Nah...no way. Those are very much hyped up by their owners, most of them having payed well under $1,000 for theirs. They are OFFERED at outrageous prices, but I have yet to see a deal done at those levels. A real transaction would be at, what, maybe $2,000, if at all? AND, "Reissues" tend to be cheaper than the market prices of the real stuff. (Edytehd four zpellyin)
