  1. A list exists, it's officialness is subject to "the wind" as it's a company only document, and one of the reasons for that is due to the length of the list (pages, and pages, and pages, and pages...).
  2. It's actually $3120, so just outside your high side. Street is 20% off list on Hamer's, which I've always thought was high, and almost impossible to get (as a dealer). G&L street is 25% off, and they will sell for that, granted on a considerably lower priced guitar. I think a Hamer street of 30% off would feel better both from a dealer and customer point of view, but with the current MO, do they even need to have a street price? For some companies (Orange for example), List *is* street on their UK products.
  3. There's been a good bit of information filtered out - some fact, some loosely based on fact - but some people have decided that they know the final deal. As I mentioned above, when you hear it from Jol or see it on the Hamer site/Jol's blog/Facebook page, then you can believe it. Ariana was told @ NAMM that "order only" is the new MO. Frankly, I don't think it's something you shout from the mountain top. Let's all quit moaning. Hamer's are being built, and there are loads of "production" models available both new and used. Brought to you by... Edited for grammar?
  4. That guy gave Matthes and I a tour at PRS. Nice guy.
  5. He's gotcha there, CM!
  6. I think this is the question that most of us here at the HFC want an answer to. Define "real". In this case: Real = you can get anything you want, within the limits of physics and common sense (i.e. Boomers) Not Real = you can "customize" from a limited list of options that they are willing to do. I played the fuck out of my Not Real SuperPro the other night. As far as Boomers (and the like), request a quote, and see if there's been a change. I think this is the question that most of us here at the HFC want an answer to. Define "real". I''ll define REAL custom in my eyes... (was previously told no) Korina Standard Faded Cherry Brazilian board, dots w/wide 12th fret spacing Vintage neck carve 4 digit style headstock w/old style logo placement 50's style Klusons Request a quote. One of our forum bretheren has done just that, with one of those prickly options you have listed. We'll see what happens...

  8. I wouldn't exactly call him underrated. +1. Dude gets props all the time.
  9. Carmine Rojas. Earl Slick was the guitarist, BTW.
  10. Yup. Band from NYC called Kiss.
  11. +2 on Mars. Gene Simmons tends to make most "under-rated bassists" discussions.
  12. Cort has Gene's OK. He'll be at their NAMM booth.
  13. Yes. The Cort is a bolt-on. The Gene one is not.
  14. Hold the phone! Bolt-on. That's too bad.
  15. IIRC. Spec sheet is @ work. It's this: http://genesimmonsaxebass.com/
  16. Cort makes 'em. Gene's $5K models come sans Cort logo and with signature, #, and meet n' greet. Not sure of the weight, pre-orders are being taken for March delivery. Come's with Gene image gig bag. Cort makes good stuff. Really!
  17. $529 + ship. Just like this one except no signature and it's a Cort. Who wants one?
  18. My theory is that dude's original hair-do blew it for them.
  19. Chops may be overrated, but they're on the list. Song selection is above chops on the list. People do give a shit though. If I think that, it doesn't mean I need to get over myself or that it doesn't matter. There are musicians that we all know that have inflated importance and what not, so I "get" your flip-ness about it, but I think your total dismissal of chops and audience reaction to stuff played well is OTT. You guys play stuff well, you know it, and "act like you've been there", which in the end is cool enough.
  20. I wouldn't say you guys where a failure. First thing that comes to mind from the thread title is having a charismatic front-person. These days, it seems you have to have a "party MC" type with some level of attractiveness to get the crowd drinking/girls loose. This would be my top ingredient for cover band success. From your list, I have heard from one of my current "project-mates" that "people love the harmonies", so I agree there, market is obvious, look less important (unless your fronting-see above), credibility ties in to look. You can be older but look hip-ish and play "younger" music. Sound (and lights-people like a show) and chops are important, but lower on the list (unless you're a tribute band, maybe).
  21. Phil Mogg. If you haven't seen the Showtime DVD, here are some of the priceless interviews:
  22. But, clothes don't make the man. Which one is it?
