  1. I'm thinking Stike, Hack & me need to form a soopahgroop.
  2. Mixerman worthy story, Hack. Any Rocklahoma '07 stories?
  3. Pretty sure you mean "palatable," not "palpable." "Palpable" means "obvious," as in, "the pale complexion and varicose veins on Poe's ass are palpable." Yeah, that's what I meant. That's first time I've ever been corrected for grammar on the internet!
  4. More palpable Black N Blue: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zi9TIENV2ZQ And a better video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X9BWcMGZuZA
  5. I've NEVER said I didn't care for Journey. I HAVE stated that Steve Perry (the twirling, near-tearful, scarf-wrapped persona) annoyed the piss out of me, although I respected his talent. What I found pathetic was that whole image - definitely not what I considered to be metal. I'm sure some good bands did whatever the directors told them to do to move plastic and get MTV time, but at any rate, I'd hardly call that song metal. The bad-ass posing guys thinking they're all hard and $#!+ while playing pop stuff and wearing the pretty boy makeup was just a goofy thing for rock. It may have worked for the Crue (partially because they were more badassed than say, Poison), but it ended up being the kiss of death for far more bands from that era. Just look what it did for Billy Squier and Kip Winger (okay, not metal, but the same result). I actually wasn't exactly part of the "Skinny tie" crowd - I was more into the WHO, Zep, Dave VH, AC/DC, Aerosmith, Stones, Hendrix, Scorps, Pat Travers, early Def Leppard, CTS, old KIX, etc. at that time, but have always had a pretty extensive appetite for a wide range of music. Yep, I was in a band that played/I also liked the Cars, Knack, Elvis Costello, Trick, etc., but Beatles/Wings, Pretenders, the Cure, Cult, Clash, Let's Active, Pistols, REM, Smiths, U2, Queen, Jeff Beck, Al Dimeola, Knopfler, Chet Atkins, SRV...hell, I can't possibly think of or list everything I listened to on a regular basis in the mid/late '80s! + 2 on Soundgarden. One of the coolest bands I ever got to see live. Yeah, I tried to un-dick my post, sorry. What's CTS?
  6. I dug Black N' Blue alot, especially the Without Love record. Chris, would you say the same about Enuff Z'nuff? They had neon, and hair, and all that, but sounded like Cheap Trick. Also, Jonathan Cain of Journey wrote that song you linked, and you're not a Journey fan IIRC. Different strokes. +1 on Nirvana being huge, and +1 on Soundgarden being the best out of that era (or at least my favorite). Edited to be less dick-ish.
  7. I always wondered about that pic. I thought it was you handing a guitar you worked on to Rick.
  8. +1. A grand time. I'm SO glad the Scissor Sisters cancelled. 1. EL
  9. Hey Pam, Dave's better half here. Saw your post and had to give you my 2 cents as I used to live in ole NYC. Pick up the Village Voice as soon as you touch down. It's where all the clubs listings are and is an invaluable resource for what to do in the city. My money's on the food experiences in New York - best restaurants in the world in NYC, but they ain't cheap. Your credit cards are your friends! Unless you're vegetarian (you tree-hugger, you!) you GOTTA go here: http://www.peterluger.com/brooklyn.cfm My sisters both worked for this company. Their restaurants are fabulous (Tribeca Grill in particular) and lookee - they're still honoring restaurant week (which I think ends on Labor Day) prices: http://myriadrestaurantgroup.com/ My brother's a drummer (The Dictators, Patti Rothberg) and lives in the city with his family. If you happen to see either of those acts scheduled and decide to go, tell him I sent ya'! Oh! And take a Circle Line boat trip around the island, and the cable car to Roosevelt Island. That should do it. Have a great time! Elduave's other half here - I actually HAVE had lunch with Buzzy, knew him over the many years my sister worked for him at The River Cafe and The Water Club (he's the owner). I'd never heard that expression!
  10. Clean-ish. Settings will vary but the volume will always be slightly higher than the gain, tone at about 1 or 2 o'clock. Not a tube swapper.
  11. I've switched from my TSL601 to a TT with a Carl Martin PlexiTone in front.
  12. Broken Hearts was my fave off the Vivid record.
  13. I've been waiting for this reply.
  14. Sniff some cork today!
  15. This thread is a good read. I think it derailed at post #66. Do you realize there have been more cancelled gatherings (LA, PA, MW) than actual gatherings of late? Let's just leave this shit to BruceM!
  16. A beaut!
  17. Grab it Cam, you'll dig it the most.
  18. Huh? He done did it, and I'd say the fact that the guitar was effed was a blessing in disguise!
  19. Cheers Dave!
  20. Glad you're enjoying Q. They *are* cool. I'd play one but I just can't seem to ditch the Fender bass shapes. Oh, if they would make me a new Cruise...
