  1. If you liked REM's "Perfect Square" you need to check out "Tourfilm". It is hands down my favorite concert DVD.
  2. I use the Dunlop Dual-Design nickel straploks. Every time I would sell a guitar my straplok buttons would go with the guitar. I then would have to go out and buy a complete set of straploks if I bought another guitar. I ended up calling Dunlop on the phone and purchasing a card of 24 Dual-Design nickel straploks direct. I had to pay full list price but it sure beats having to buy a complete set each time! The Dunlop model number for the button card is "Dunlop SLS1911N".
  3. My condolences. I lost my mom back in September and it was a tough time for me. Hang in there.
  4. About ten years ago I was given a stack of old Tokai catalogs by a guy who used to work for them in the 80's. In one (and only one) of the catalogs ("The Tokai World", Volume 7, 1983-1984) these guitars appeared. I have NEVER seen one of these for sale!
  5. The wide angle distortion really makes that photo cool. Nice shot!
  6. Wow - I love Superdrag. I only got to see them once. I think I have all their records, but my favorite is "In the Valley of Dying Stars". My favorite unknown band is Angel City (also known as The Angels in Australia). They played Hamers that Rick Nielsen loaned them after their guitars were stolen while on tour. I think I read about that in Trouser Press.
  7. Songs that I would play and sing: Acoustic - "Drowned" by The Who Electric - "Powderfinger" by Neil Young
  8. And another here.
  9. Philosophy/Religion/College/Language - Steve Martin Bobby Brown Goes Down - Frank Zappa Her Name Is - George Jones Animal Farm - The Kinks Relaxing - Hank Garland Make You Mad - Odds You're Still On My Mind - Redd Volkaert I Talk To Jesus Everyday - Johnny Cash Watching the Detectives - Elvis Costello Time In A Bottle - Jim Croce
  10. A copy just sold on eBay for $41. Link here.
  11. It's a cheap MIJ body with an old All Parts neck. The other parts are from various manufacturers. The finish on the body is a transparent fluorescent orange over an ash body. Dave Wintz at Robin Guitars painted it for me. The headstock has a "Fucker" decal I bought from Mark Erlewine and the lower half of the decal is from an old Robin "Original Recipe". I was inspired to paint the guitar fluorescent orange after seeing Adrian Belew on the "Inner Revolution" tour - he had both an orange strat and a purple strat. The orange strat "glowed" under stage lights.
  12. Isn't that a Robin "Ranger"? I've got a few of them Robins...
  13. Thanks everyone! Laura and I are taking the day off and are going to go get in some trouble... And a very happy birthday to the previous owner of my second, CAR, 1981 Special Mr. TomTerrific!
  14. For? Wikipedia says: Thela Hun Ginjeet is a single by the band King Crimson, released in 1981. Its tracks are from the album Discipline (1981). The song name is an anagram of "heat in the jungle", which is a reference to crime in the city.
  15. Is it simply? Talking Heads We have a winner!
  16. For some reason, the King Crimson/Talking Heads similarities struck me after seeing that clip when they never did after listening repeatedly to the Discipline album. But I´m pretty sure Belew worked with TH before he joined Crimson, so your comment might be in reverse. Bonus question: Robert Fripp worked with Brian Eno a lot in the seventies. Eno produced three Talking Heads albums. On Eno's solo album "Before and After Science" the song "King's Lead Hat" is an anagram for ____________? More importantly, anybody located the video of the Friday's performance for "Thela Hun Ginjeet" yet?
  17. One of the most awesome things I ever saw on "Fridays" was King Crimson performing "Elephant Talk" and "Thela Hun Ginjeet". "Thela" was especially mind-blowing! The way Adrian Belew controlled his feedback to play the solo completely blew away my 17 year old mind! I haven't been able to locate any online videos of either of those performances from "Fridays". Anybody else seen one?
  18. That was "Candi Slice", wasn't it? Isn't that Paul Schaeffer in the background?
  19. Prolly most of 'em. I thought I heard DLR quip once: "Critics like Elvis Costello because they all LOOK like Elvis Costello." I wonder how many people that complain about the HOF are just jealous that they themselves will never be in there - or for that matter were never in a successful rock band. Me on the other hand - I'm in there - or at least a picture of my (unsuccessful) band was in there inside a Spin magazine in a HUGE exhibit on rock 'n roll journalism... or at least it was a few years ago... they've probably changed out the exhibit by now... you couldn't actually OPEN the magazine and see my picture... it was an ad for Bud Dry beer... yes we were corporate sell-outs, but at least we weren't sponsored by a product we didn't use or believe in!
  20. I would think they do so to reveal what the top bidder's max amount is. That way they can decide if they really want to spend that much money without getting all caught up in last minute decision making.
  21. Go ahead, post the pics Kenny. Well, okay... since you called me Kenny...
  22. I've got a transparent orange Rawhide Hollow on order right now. It will be my first Wrangler/Rawhide (and I've got a FEW other Robins!).
  23. My '79 Sunburst:
  24. OK, I'll chip in. Here's mine (on the right) next to what used to be Kiz's "Black Bastard".
