  1. Let's see now...
  2. Use Wolf's Head 30 weight. It'll never let you down.
  3. I got mine on Saturday. Thanks!
  4. What songs did they play the mandocello on?
  5. Doesn't Rick's have The Beatles logo on the back? The logo is upside-down on the back. This allows him to raise the guitar over his head and the logo is right-side-up to the audience. I've seen him do this a couple of times live.
  6. Does a Photoshop mockup of this exist? Page up, Kennypoo. Sorry. I'm new to this internet thing...
  7. Here's my letter from 1981: I still have the guitar:
  8. Rickenbacker 360V64 six string in Jetglo®
  9. I've been a fan for a very long time and own all of their albums. I saw XTC open for The Police on the Zenyatta Mondatta tour. XTC was promoting "Black Sea". Favorite albums in this order: "English Settlement" "Black Sea" (bought it when it was released) "Drums & Wires" "Nonsuch" (produced by Gus Dudgeon!) Favorite songs (in no particular order): "Life Begins At The Hop" (the version from "Transistor Blast" is great) "When You're Near Me I Have Difficulty" "Making Plans For Nigel" "Respectable Street" "Generals and Majors" "Living Through Another Cuba" "Love at First Sight" "Ball And Chain" "Senses Working Overtime" "Melt The Guns" "Jason And The Argonauts" "Wake Up" "You're The Wish You Are I Had" "This World Over" "Dear God" "Earn Enough For Us" "The Mayor Of Simpleton" "The Ballad Of Peter Pumpkinhead" "Then She Appeared" My bands used to cover: "Making Plans for Nigel" "Optimism's Flame"
  10. Does it bug anybody else that the stereo panning is backwards? In other words' Vai's on screen right, but his guitar is panned to the left speaker. Ori is on screen left, but she is panned to the right. It's really confusing for me to hear .
  11. My thoughts exactly. I would guess Jol is somewhere around 60 years old?
  12. You said "WORKS"? You know what doesn't work? Stripes and checks at the same time!
  13. NBC Nightly News ended their broadcast last night with a 2-3 minute piece on Les Paul. I was actually shocked at the duration - they NEVER have any story on for that long during that newscast. Of course, like Willie said above, they probably knew he was about to go and already had it packaged in advance. Last night Phish played "How High the Moon" at their concert.
  14. I do love those two Chester & Lester albums.
  15. A few years ago I bought a used, top of the line, flametop Robin Avalon for $750. It had a pair of Tom Holmes humbuckers in it. I sold the guitar a few years later for $750 but took out the pickups before I sold it. I don't normally buy into cork-sniffery, but I gotta tell you, these are some really great sounding pickups...
  16. My Robin Rawhide. Transparent orange with scrape binding on body and f-hole; flamey maple neck with rosewood fingerboard; cream, pearloid pickguard & pickups. It weighs a mere 6.4 lbs, and is (to coin a phrase) "resonant as hell!"
  17. I have the box set of DVDs from The Old Grey Whistle test. Here's my favorite: King Crimson - "Frame by Frame"
  18. A friend of mine was considering buying a guitar at the last Dallas guitar show. He really wanted to buy it and asked me what I thought of the guitar. The guitar was missing the high E string, and the A string was a flat wound. I told him I wouldn't buy it - any time I see a guitar that has such a weird assortment of easily fixable things wrong with it sets off an alarm with me. It's kinda like the seller is trying to disguise deeper issues!
  19. What a great picture. Where did you get that?
  20. In his first video, Gerald Weber uses a paper towel and Elmer's glue to repair a long crack. He pulls apart the two-ply paper towel to make the material very thin. After it dries he spray paints the area of the speaker flat black.
  21. Buck Owens & The Buckaroos! I just recently bought one of the greatest hits CDs and love it.
  22. So true... BTW - I really dig my goldtop McCarty!
  23. Frank Zappa's solo on "Dirty Love". The first 3-4 notes have the most amazing tone!
  24. I emailed your photo to my wife and she replied: "What, no amp? What kind of poser IS that kid??? ;-)"
