  1. I agree. Nothing bad so say about SITs. Minimal stretching. I'll get a couple of sets from the store in my territory when I'm around.
  2. I have heard many positive things about Peavey Bandits. They are cheap so they suck right? I think it might be a general negative perception about solid state amps.
  3. Slash and Stills have a few of those me thinks.
  4. How 'bout a hint?
  5. I recently tried a Peavey Windsor head. That might be an affordable alternative. It sounded good at music store volume, anyway. I was not overly impressed with the limitation of the eq especially the low range.
  6. I picked up a couple sets of SIT .010 - .046 to try on my gibby scale. $3.50 a set on clearance from a mom and pop store.
  7. Mods, can we move this post to the Ask the HFC Experts section? -Austin Yes, please do. Thanks Austin.
  8. Growing up where I did, you either owned a Fender amp or a Marshall amp. Don't ask me why. That is just how it was. My first real amp was a Fender and I still own one today. The one I own today is SS, but it still produces some nice sparkly clean tones. I feel a little deprived never owning a Marshal amp. So much so I catch myself looking at some of the hybrid and SS heads that are available. So tell me the good, the bad and the ugly about Marshall heads. Go ahead, I can take it.
  9. Chickenfoot is doing a show around here but I have a hard time laying down $60 to go see them.
  10. I have never understood the Michael Anthony thing. I mean the band was doing nothing and the guy wanted to play. I think those heads may be so swollen that there is little room for anyone else. Lotsa talent there.
  11. Right now my son is playing through a 10 watt Marshall. I would love to step him up to something that is versatile and is priced well enough for me to afford. A 30 watt combo should be loud enough for him to jam with friends. The only other things close are a Vox and Line 6. The Vox is about $70 more and I think the Peavey beats out the Line 6 with tone.
  12. I may be looking for a 30 watt modeling amp in the near future for my 17 year old. Would you recommend the vypyr over a Line 6?
  13. Sorry I'm late. Hope you had a great day!
  14. In need of a new hairstyle.
  15. From one bottom feeder to another.....you are my idol.
  16. Superb!
  17. SOS must be like heroin to put up with that shit.
  18. How 'bout a little Thin Lizzy?
  19. 1st LP I ever purchased. The thick layered guitars helped the MIT grad sell alot of power brakes and rockmans. Boston had a show in Portland in support of their second LP. A psychic predicted that the volume would collapse the roof at the CCCC. Boston's greatest hits has in my auto CD rotation since mid Feb.
