  1. Yep, I have a first gen Apple M1 Studio computer. I had always planned to upgrade when the M5 version came out. Was expected this summer. In February people started buying them with 512 gb of Ram to run llms. Then the model with 512 was no longer available. I do a lot of stuff with video and using AI to upscale and clean up old super 8 films. I also use a lot of other special effects video plugins that need a lot of power. And use logic and other music programs. So, when the orders got where there were shipping 4 or 5 months away I ordered what I wanted. M3 Ultra with 256gb ram. I was hoping that the M5 ultra would come out before it shipped and the order would get upgraded to the M5 version. Still do but if it doesn't then I can either keep it or return it in the 14 day return window. I want one really powerful computer to use before I get too old to do the things I like doing now. The crazy thing is the used market for these computers, especially with the 512gb ram is ridiculous. Well over twice the price when purchased new.
  2. yea, should be up my alley but never irritated that itch...Probably cause I suck as a bass player!!!! hahahaha. no really, I could be much better..
  3. That is purty but never felt a desire for those basses. Don't know why. My Cruise was always great and finding the Blitz was definitely on my list. A 12ver also, but never a Chap. Would probably like it if I play one I must admit.
  4. One thing I just thought about is you can turn off the cabinet part of Amplitube and use a different type of speaker system. Never done it myself. I've always used a quality speaker.
  5. I've used a few different sims over time but I mainly use Amplitube. I've used it "live" but basically running through a PA style speaker. Their new TONEX seems to be more of a live sound version. Their stuff is constantly on sale so you can get it fairly cheap and there is a "Free" version to try out. https://www.ikmultimedia.com/news/?id=TonexCollectionsFlash2026
  6. Things came up with my wife’s parents. Not gonna make it.
  7. I haven't flown much but both times I flew to LA from central florida I did Delta Comfort+. not too much more than other seats but definitely more comfortable and free drinks and snacks. Not as nice as first class but a good compromise. One really nice part is getting on sooner and getting off quicker and knowing you will have overhead space for your carryon.
  8. Love the pickups he made for my old bullet bass.
  9. Also, NOHTHATYR.... No one has to hear any thing that you record
  10. There is an acronym for home recording. JFDI Just fucking do it you get better once you fuck up some but it is very much a fun thing to do!
  11. I have been unsuccessfully recording since 1977 or so starting with using two cassette decks, then moving to an Amiga computer then to 4 track and 8 track tape decks then to Mac computers and sticking with Mac. Great insights, review. Some amp sims try to emulate the amp sound and some try to emulate the "recorded" amp sound. Big difference too. One sounds better playing it "live" and the other sounds great as part of the recording mix. Either will work with recording but one takes more work and the other takes less work. One sounds better while playing, the other "may" sound better in the recording mix. JMO... YMMV.
  12. Yea, but that one is cold blooded so it adjusts to temperatures.....
  13. Sad to hear. RIP!
