  1. Best I could do as far as sexy pic ... Another guitar that was hard to photograph
  2. It better look good, ya dang socialist!
  3. Your black standard was my inspiration!
  4. The before pic got this for the classic $350 Guy claimed it was all original with non branded Kahler and Hamer headstock "decal" that looked like press on lettering. I knew he was lying but I didn't care ... neck/frets were perfect and with a one piece mahogany body how can you lose?
  5. I think I have an extra JT t-shirt ... Hmmm
  6. Hey, bet you don't have one of these! Many thanks to John (peedenmark7) Stike Greg Platzer Tim H (Hamerhead) Jem Ken (pirateflynn) Nick 82 Blitz that was de-kahlerized , repainted and completely refurbished ... 59 neck, Custom SH-5 bridge ... better pics when I have time
  7. Ebony and ivory ... so happy its your birthday .... la, la la
  8. my 95 Special FM has no "special" decal but my 96 Cruise bass has a "cruise bass" decal (which looks really cool BTW) ... go figure!
  9. I'd try finding a set of the original Seymour Duncans ... they sound really good. Maybe you can find some cheap from a Cruise bass owner that changed pickups ... put up a shout out in the for sale section. Sorry, I'm keeping mine.
  10. http://www.lollarguitars.com/mm5/merchant....zz-bass-pickups
  11. I found a good deal on some Lollars so I stuck those in my Cruise (2TEC,'96, four string) ... it's a toss up really, The stock SD's sounded more musical ... the Lollars sound more focused with a lot less single coil noise. I need to get a better amp also. Soooo opinions could change in the future
  12. Oh yeah? I think Caddie had another mid size amp or two ... A hot rod deluxe and hmmm, He might still want to sell that Marshall 20 watt reissue ... Caddie, speak up! I've grown several inches ... Who needs extenz? not me in vids!
  13. I just picked one up and I love it. (Thanks Caddie!) Evidently a 22+ was what Kurt Cobain used on "Nevermind" Heres the deal ... as least as far as I'm concerned you need to get the 22+ w/equalizer ... The equalizer is very handy! It was an option so they don't all have it. The 22 doesn't have the master volume so stay away from those. replace the V1 tube with a lower gain tube or the lead channel is almost unusable ... it probably could use a different speaker, the black shadow is a little harsh ... for blues I hear the Weber alnico blue dog is the ticket. All kinds of different tones/sounds etc. available ... gets loud as heck AND sounds good at low volumes I'm getting some great sounds out of it ... only drawback is the controls are very sensitive so it does take a little fiddlin' . write down your settings when you find something you like! Basically totally f'n killer if you find the right model in good shape feel free to write down my settings
  14. Agreed. Probably wouldn't get $350-375 for it on the open market today, but it's probably a very good playing/sounding bass. Most of these are and are well-made. Personally, for a Hamer bolt-on, I'd spend an extra $50-100 and get a newer second-generation Cruisebass. Those are out of sight. Where ya been meng? Turns out I know the previous owner of this Chap bass .... good guy. He traded the Chappie in for a P bass! I think he just succumbed to peer pressure .......
  15. They came down to $395 ... fair price?
  16. some pics white dot is price sticker
  17. yeah! like that but, black w/out boomers ... I feel like such a dope for my lack of observational skills, I think I was in shock to see a USA Hamer anywhere in Santa Barbara! more later ...
  18. I'll take some pics tomorrow ...
  19. My local geetar shop called me about a Chaparral (I think) USA bass they just got in. black, short scale, really light, sounds awesome acoustically, slightly beat up players cond. but nothing major. EMG's ... They had it marked at $595 ... I offered them $300 ... whats it really worth, are these good basses? Thanks!
  20. Could it be they sound good in bright guitars? They sounded good in the FM also, but in nothing else I've owned.
  21. been listening to the first two "System of a Down" albums lately... I really dig 'em. Not that new but ... still really good. Would have been even better without Rick Rubins compressed flat recording technique. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7VF5hRkW1IE
  22. My amptech used clear GE silicone to repair the 10" bass speaker he gave me ... speaker works great!
  23. don't ever change, baby ... HBD!
  24. Thats a great price ... if it's in super good cond. it's probably worth $800 USD It might have a skinny neck however ... if thats something that concerns you then you would want to be clear on that point
  25. not exactly early but since there are some other FM's in here I couldnt resist
