covers that are way better than the originals
gorch replied to DaveL's topic in Hamer Fan Club Messageboard
Ainsley Lister plays a bluesy version of Prince's Purple Rain. Not way better but a great translation to the blues. Actually, there is no way to make it better. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_Y3CaMvtn8I -
I prefer the first period with Moody/Marsden on guitar. Also dig some stuff of the 90s, but lost much interest in the new stuff.

New member and NGD (Sunburst Slammer series)
gorch replied to Diocletian's topic in Hamer Fan Club Messageboard
Great thread so far. And a warm welcome to our new member. The old Slammer series are supposed to be excellent, especially for the money. It might make sense to replace parts of the electronics to more quality. It looks like you've turned to this path already. -
GREAT THREAD!

I seriously thought I would make the highest account number of all posters in this thread . But it looks like I failed. Morris Davis made the race and became the winner.

Saying welcome to new board member triodecr, I was really impressed about the member number inflation. It seems that spam requests are blowing off the counter. Almost a year ago it's been below 10k. Now, it is heading 40k.

Brian May Red Special REproductions
gorch replied to Nathan of Brainfertilizer Fame's topic in Hamer Fan Club Messageboard
That's the BM Signature mid prized guitar made in Korea. It's being used in the WWR musicals around the globe. Sound comes quite close to the original. Change pickups to Adeson replicas and you will achieve another step sound wise. It doesn't have the BM knife edge trem, but has the original wiring scheme. There is a custom version available from BHM Guitars called the 'Special' that's fairly close to the original. Still built in Korea, but of high quality. Production is limited to 100 a year I think. The Special have been used live by the master himself. It had the signature SPECIAL written on the body. If not edited there should be photos around. -

I've read once they go the 5-7k direction. Fairly cheap considering a Jol-Theme. -

Definitely one of the biggest names in pop business. Pink's songs are partly guitar oriented. He can't be that bad. -

Hamer Brand Loyalty
gorch replied to Nathan of Brainfertilizer Fame's topic in Hamer Fan Club Messageboard
The reason I stopped at 4 (all different sounding) with only 1 max. 2 sound types I am missing (not really, just GASing). 1. Brian May type 2. Strat type if its really different sounding to the MIK Standard configuration I've made myself. Possibly adding a middle pickup routing to the MIK Standard some time in the future. I've learned that it is good to have a sound change one or the other week as it seems that my ears are getting nump listening one and the same sound every day. Anytime I change guitars after weeks or a month, I discover it like a new guitar. That's fun and motivating. Hamer? Great looking, excellent sounding, perfectly crafted, enough brand mojo, extraordinary fan club community,... I don't expect getting it better. Possibly even. Which would be no reason to change. Finally, I've got more to learn on the playing side than another guitar of another brand could give to me. -
I'd recommend trading the Duesenberg for a Hamer Monaco. Two flawless guitars are better than one.

Could someone please wake him up? He seems to be totally caught by his dream guitar.

I wouldn't agree that there is no market for high prized items. There are tons of money floating around in the world at the moment. Since we thread participants don't seem to have it, there are many out there that have even more of it and don't know what to do with it either. Jol could not find a better time start a business like this. You guys think there is a recession? Keep in mind that there are people that did not experience a recession at all. For those people the recent market downturn was a great chance to buy cheap and receive great returns within relatively short time. What the Google cache image concerns, every web participant should know that Google scans your site even before it is saved on the web space. For me it seems to be the classic failure of site builders thinking that demo pics would disappear once the real images are on. It's not! ...as we can see proved.

Doesn't want to in the future either as he told us in his blog.

Greg would never tell us that he'd sold the kit to Jol, would he?
