bry4321 Posted June 24, 2024 Posted June 24, 2024 (edited) Reverb: Vintage 1982 Hamer Special Electric Guitar Husk Project Not suggesting you pay $1199 for it and not sure what "The neck joint took trauma as well and was pulling under tension, which means it will require attention to be stable as a player" means exactly. Maybe putting a block in the neck pickup cavity would stabilize it? One of you with skills, or who can pay someone with skills, could go crazy with this. Edited June 24, 2024 by bry4321 Quote
velorush Posted June 24, 2024 Posted June 24, 2024 (edited) Oh. It's been "fixed." 😐 ETA: Quote The instrument will be well-packed inside to ensure safe shipping. Um, why? 😐 Edited June 24, 2024 by velorush 1 9 Quote
DarkHammer Posted June 24, 2024 Posted June 24, 2024 kind of expensive for a broken husk. By the time you spend money on repairing head break and neck joint, as well as on parts you will be very close to what original non repaired Specials go for. 7 Quote

First of all. while it definitely is ugly, it is neither solid nor smooth. It's not even a headstock repair. Pouring glue into a crack and hoping it holds is not a repair. You can tell the "repair" already gave because of the crack heading toward the plain E string side of the headstock. Had that been there before the repair, it would have lacquer filler in it like that disgusting black Rorschach Test area at the center of the photo. But again, he did mention that it was ugly. Second, if the neck joint is "pulling under tension," get yourself a quiver of arrows because what you have there is a bow, not a neck. $1,200 shipped. I think not. Take a grand off and I'll consider it. 6 1 1 Quote

scottcald Posted June 27, 2024 Posted June 27, 2024 Yikes. Man, when I look at a repair and think I could've done that, it's a sign that it wrong or poorly done. 2 1 Quote
bsteff666 Posted June 27, 2024 Posted June 27, 2024 I asked if he would just sell me the case a while back. No such luck. Quote
