Is that true?

Can't believe this expertise of Nr. 1 Guitar Center, a very well renowned Vintage shop in Hamburg (Picture 8), on German eBay Kleinanzeigen.

But price seems cool.

It’s true. Guy is a friend of mine. I declined, so it got on to the boards. Very trustful seller.

Amazing ! Thank You Gorch 👍.

So every Checkerboard Special from this period has a brazilian board? In which period? Even late 70s Sunbursts?

I was told many years ago by Kim Keller there that no Hamers shipped with Brazilian Rosewood. I was concerned at the time because I was shipping a Hamer to Germany after the Brazilian export prohibition. Please, someone, feel free to correct me, but that is my recollection.

Unsure about Specials, but some models did have BRW. Willcutts Special K and Ecstacy did. I expect there are others.

I stand corrected.  Maybe he was addressing that particular model/era (it was a '96 Special FM).

Or maybe I hallucinated the entire conversation.

Or maybe it's just another symptom of breaching 60 years old.

I retract my earlier statement.  As you were.

ETA: went searching for the conversation in Messages and then in the entire forum (used: "brazilian rosewood" site:hamerfanclub.com).  Didn't come up with the conversation, but I did come up with a dozen or so real examples of Hamers with Brazilian rosewood boards.

Sorry.  🤡

I’m pretty sure that the older Hamers (including the ‘90s Specials) used INDIAN Rosewood, not Brazilian.

Sorry, misunderstandin from my side. I just new the guitar and seller and misinterpreted the question though. Never mind, alternative facts are facts too.

From what I've gleaned from comments here and there from Germany Hamer fans there seems to be a widespread belief in that area that all the boards, even on early production guitars, were Brazilian rosewood.  There was allegedly a music store somewhere in Germany that was creating these certificates stating as such and also to confirm that it was all sourced pre-cites so it was a-okay for international shipment
