DarkHammer Posted November 20, 2024 Posted November 20, 2024 why do some of his guitars have double years? I.e. "Gibson Kalamazoo, Michigan 1954 and 1972...The Oxblood" Are they some sort of a partcasters assembled from 1956 and 1972 components? Quote
Steve Haynie Posted November 20, 2024 Posted November 20, 2024 Well... Charlie Daniels had a 1959 Les Paul that was renecked at the factory in 1969. Jeff Beck's Les Paul could have had the same situation. Quote

It's not a partscaster as such, just modded, according to the stories that have gone around for years about this guitar...this guitar originally came with P-90s from the factory, and then was routed for HBs later on, before Beck got it, according to the Guitar.com article below. Gibson's 'reissued' a few versions of this guitar with a Oxblood paint scheme starting in the 1990s or so, IIRC: “It’s time to part with them as Jeff wished”: 90 of Jeff Beck’s guitars, including his ‘Oxblood’ Gibson Les Paul, are headed to auction 1 Quote
gorch Posted November 20, 2024 Posted November 20, 2024 Will any of these guitars ever be played again? I assume they will turn into collectors items and case queens. Loud Hailer became a favorite album to me. 1 1 Quote
Steve Haynie Posted November 20, 2024 Posted November 20, 2024 If Kirk Hammett or Joe Bonamassa buy any of those guitars they will get played. 4 Quote

Jakeboy Posted November 23, 2024 Posted November 23, 2024 Loud Hailer is a great album in the Guv’nor’s catalog. Truth remains a fave as does Beck-ola and his Yardbirds output, at least for me. Oh, his Gene Vincent tribute as well. Beck NAILED the Gallup tone and phrasing. Quote
