I've always been interested in these but never had a chance to play one. Do these feel and or sound basically like a Les Paul. Or, are they entirely their own beast?

I’ve found that these guitars are much better balanced than their Gibson counterparts. They come stock with a great sound and an overall better feel. When I bought my Monaco Elite, I didn’t hesitate like I would with a Gibson—I was confident it would be well-built and sound amazing, and it absolutely does.

Nearly every Gibson I’ve played feels like it’s going to slide right off my shoulder. On the other hand, my Monaco gives me incredible tonal versatility, and I’ve kept it stock for the past five years. Now, I’m gearing up for my first pickup swap, which is exciting. I’d love to get a Superpro eventually, but I need to save up for it first.

They tend to get overlooked by the "cork-sniffing" crowd, which honestly works in my favor—it means there are still great deals to be found on amazing instruments like these.

Thanks, exactly the feedback I was seeking!

The extra piece by the upper frets used to turn me off and now it doesn't seem like such a big deal.

I had a '97 LP Classic which I miss. Now my only LP is an old Japanese copy I laid bricks one summer to earn the money for when I was 13. Bolt on neck, made from many pieces of wood etc. but actually has that LP type sound but not the same as that one I had. I mainly keep this one for sentimental reasons; first electric! I always think I'll set it up for slide playing but haven't yet.

I do love the overall consistency of Hamers especially as I buy most of these online. Less chance of ending up with a dud than some brands!

I have really bonded with the Monaco Elite I picked up locally earlier this year. I did swap the pickups as I was not thrilled with the Duncans. It's towards the top of the heap.

I thought the little ledge would bug me, but I don't notice it at all when playing and have no issues getting to the upper frets.

FWIW, my Monaco Elite with upgraded P-90s and goldtop is a better guitar than my original '56 Les Paul ever was. YMMV.

Here's mine. I came close to selling it because a friend of mine who had a '66 germanium fuzz face told me he would give me first right of refusal. I had been bugging him for years to sell it to me and he finally offered. It caught me a bit off guard so I hastily listed my Monaco.

A couple forum members convinced me I could have my cake and eat it too, so I asked him to get on a payment plan, to which he agreed. I am forever grateful to have both the pedal and my Hamer.

The Fuzz Face is great. I call it, The Wife. If I had to sell everything and only keep one pedal that would be it.

I knew that it was great going into the deal, as I had previously played it quite a lot.
