django49 Posted January 7 Posted January 7 Bear with the quick and dirty pictures......The Grez Grand Tour did arrive just after 2024 ended. It lives up to the video comments Barry made when introducing his design, meaning how to make a guitar sound bigger than it is. Not huge but quite noticeably larger and thicker than the compact Mendocino. (15" vs 13.25"). Smaller than a 335 (16", IIRC). Fully hollow rather than chambered, and all solid woods, no plywood. To my ear, the unplugged sound is pretty darn close to my way too big 18" archtop. I have not owned a guitar with Charlie Christian pickups before, but I am liking them a lot. (Note that it ships with a removable plug for the lower f hole to reduce feedback). A little added bonus is the wood of the body! This is essentially the guitar that I talked to Mike Shishkov about building 2-3 years ago. If only.......🤧 I am very impressed with Barry's work. And with a turnaround time of single digit WEEKS, the wait is more bearable. (He does also do full on archtops, but those are on a whole other time schedule)!) If I was in need of a "Junior", I reckon I would be chatting with him. 8 Quote

wil50n Posted January 9 Posted January 9 (edited) My Monaco SuperPro was delivered today, what a fantastic guitar. 2004 in Amberburst, new old stock. I'll make a separate post soon. Amazingly the shop has 4 other NOS Hamer guitars and basses from the early 2000s. I'd snaffle them all if I could. Edited January 9 by wil50n 12 Quote
tommy p Posted January 14 Posted January 14 (edited) You may have seen my posts here about having a stroke in January 2024, battling back to being able to play again, and then having another stroke in July. But you also may have seen also my posts looking for a korina Vector for YEARS. I always thought the asking prices were more than I wanted to spend so I kept passing them up. One I had been watching was reduced in price about a week after my second stroke and then while I was mulling it over got reduced again! Twice in the span of about a week. Stupid, overconfident me bought it thinking I would be able to play again in a few weeks like the first time, which has unfortunately not been the case. I can barely even form a chord since and I certainly can't PLAY anything. At least I can say I owned one at one time and I love looking at it. Edited January 14 by tommy p 7 Quote
Steve Haynie Posted January 14 Posted January 14 Tommy, are you seeing any tiny signs of improvement? Matt Matson has not posted here in years, but he was working his way back from a stroke by learning to play again. 3 Quote
