So much has been discussed about the TWINS (serial steven and frank chris) that I've decided to offer the TWINS up for sale.

'79 #0225 in naturalburst, solid neck, player's condition, gouged serial number (apparently, this guitar was the subject of a regional auction/drawing when it was offered in wisconsin during the hey-day of cheap trick in the summer of '79; it was stolen, raped (gouged), and eventually pawned, which resulted in it getting back to the original owner--serial may amend this story as he was the owner prior to my purchase sometime ago....$4500 single purchase; $4000 as part of package deal

the special, one-off, only STD produced from late 80s into mid-90s. this guitar was a custom-order by CM in order to recreate the legendary naturalburst of RN's. yes, it has RN's signature on the big horn and on the back plate...$1650 single purchase; $1400 package deal...

I purchased that one from the original owner who had it since new in '79 other than a brief detour shortly after he got it. I don't remember the dealer, but apparently this was to be the first Standard to be sold in Wisconsin and the dealer had a long list of names waiting for one when they became available (production on these was really slow as they were all hand made). Apparently the dealer held some sort of lottery deal where the winner would be able to purchase this one when it came in. This being shortly after Rick N's #0004 was everywhere, following the release of Budokan with all of those killer photos, demand was at its peak. The guy I got it from won and happily purchased the guitar. A few weeks later, the guitar was stolen at a gig. Fortunately, it was pawned a day or so later and since it stuck out like a sore thumb, it wasn't difficult to track down. Unfortunately, the person who lifted it gouged out the serial number a little (cosmetic only). That's the only bummer on a very cool guitar. Since there were so few yellow trans/natural Standards with dots like RN's (I could only find 4-5 in the logs including Rick's), there were few possibilities as to the serial number on this one that I hadn't already accounted for.

Damn, I wanted that 91 Standard... gorgeous guitar. :) I can't bond with the Burst scheme, so I guess I'll have to wait for it to come up for sale again to get a standard.

kilroy....

I had not the remotest interest in the $4k, 4 digit dot nat standard because of the serial number issue...

I had a limited interest in chris' old dot nat....but never got the addtional pics from you ?

we didnt get very far in any email conversations, and meantime it sold....

no issues on my end regarding that piece... its not the end all...but glad you moved it.

however, I had a strong interest in 0225...

you answered my black standard posting months ago with a price ,that I felt was high and I told you that.......then after a couple days YOU pm'd with a lowered price....

meantime ........I bought several other guitars and was not looking to drop the addtional money at that time....I made that clear.

I dont spend much time wheeling and dealing.. haggling over this and that....

I make offers once, if they accept, great,...... if not I move on...

so, I dont know why youre scratching your head.

I recontacted you and you cranked the price up a grand.

I will add...

if the previous owner hasnt gotten back to you on 0225...and nobodys jumping out

5th floor windows to snap it up at your price.

"maybe consider the final price you offered me"..

again ,no hassles on my end... just not sure where you are really coming from on all fronts.

You're kidding, right? Remember my red b/c sunburst? First you wanted to trade for a charvel strathead, than a wayne, than cash, etc.. I would have done any of those deals...

I'm glad that guitar has found a good home.

:)

first off, I would never have offered a strathead charvel for your sunburst... dont insult my intelligence.

but... initially could very well have offered a wayne

as I was offing a bunch at that time....you never know unless you ask what others might find attractive in trade...

dave, you were unsure what you wanted to do with that guitar from the time I searched completed auctions ,found it ,and contacted you..

I admit fully that I put more effort in than normal ...

my cash offer in the end was pretty good both times from what I remember...

but... you had fixed the black thumbnail chips around the tuner washers and decided it was now a keeper... no foul.

then a year or so later when I checked back hoping.. you mentioned kiz had it... I was kinda surprised i didnt get an email..... again no foul....

there was brief conversation about my numbers vs. what it sold/was traded for...

you then mentioned contacting kiz to get it back ...

I briefly talked with kiz,he mentioned it was potentially going back to you...not sure what actually transpired ...but I said screw it at that point...

some get bought... some dont... some down the road....some long since forgotten.

thats really the long and short of it.

I absolutely do inquire about lots of amps and guitars [as anyone consistently adding does]

they come and some do go with frequency...some purchases are mere trade bait so being in right is paramount...

sometimes theres money to burn and a bunch of neat things can happen... sometimes one is stretched and they have to wait it out a bit...

you dont build collections paying through the a$$ for every guitar you look at.

not everything revolves around price, being comfortable with whom your dealing factors in..

though I really liked it, I got the feeling I was being played to a degree, so I didnt further pursue your guitar.

so if you are likening me to a tire kicker/game player, spare me.

:):D

"first off, I would never have offered a strathead charvel for your sunburst... dont insult my intelligence."

You need to check your memory p7. First, you offered me a black Charvel strathead. I still have the pics you sent me. I told you I didnt know much about stratheads, but I will consider it. A day or two later l told you I would take your offer. You re-neg'd. You said you couldnt part with the strathead and offered a black wayne instead. I also have that pic. I told you I knew nothing about the wayne guitars, but I will get back to you. Again, after a day or so I told you I would take your trade offer. Than you re-neg'd again, saying that you could raise the cash after you move some things on eBay. This apparently never happened, because finally, after about two week of B.S., you passed on the guitar.

It was than sold with no problems to another HFCer. After which, you emailed me and said something like "for that price, you should have traded for the wayne." Nice.

Someone like yourself shouldn't be calling out others on a public forum. I save emails from all my trade deals. Don't make me take these out, you'll be embarassed.

"so if you are likening me to a tire kicker/game player, spare me"-I would say that whole transaction personifies tire kicker and game player.

dave, whatever...

you sold the guitar quite a while ago and apparently did well on it, I am also glad it found a great home......

I now have one similar... I'm not mad,

so in posting your snide comment about me, you are what ?

mad you didnt profit from me or that you just dont like me period ?

if you wanna jump on me.. go right ahead...you dont know me from adam.

and in turn , I could honestly careless what you have to chime in about me.

those that "actually" know me here, or have done business with me ,

certainly know the better.

"someone like yourself shouldnt call others out" . whats that supposed to mean ?

I am not starting anything and

would think you have much better things to do than start a sh!t storm over a non sale almost 2 yrs ago..

Who's Dave?

I just don't like hypocrites or people who talk trash about others in public forums. There's no need for it. If I hadn't read your ridiculous comments here, I never would have said a thing about our transaction. I don't care about it at all.

We all prefer to keep the forum free from public brawls. Unless the participants are actually going to go at it in a ring or on a stage somewhere (via a broadcast medium), let's keep that kind of thing offline. :)

Thanks!

Who's Dave?

That's what I was wondering.... that was not the name you gave me when I bought that LP from you 2 weeks ago.... Geez, I feel like I've been duped!

Just kidding folks... honest, straight up deal.
