And this is a very minor point but is it possible that when you have items for sale you could mention if you are willing to ship world wide , or in my case Australia.......Thanks

i never understood why most sellers wont ship to europe and australia.

i understand not to ship to africa, asia or somewhere else.

i have the advantage of an US friend who can help me but why is it so difficult to write a foreign adress on a parcel?

For shipping to Norway and Sweden there is www.jetcarrier.com, so basically the seller only ships to New Jersey

I haven't had any issues shipping internationally, however for most private sellers (not stores or those with business accounts), there is a real lack of consistency with the carriers. The paperwork has increased, the insurance and claims procedure is sketchy at best, and quite frankly, UPS, FedEx, DHL and others have HORRIBLE reputations for getting things to their destinations in the lower 48 right, much less across any border or large bodies of water.

Most of us here in the States simply don't trust the carriers to get the job done, and we know that in the (increasingly) likely event of an item broken/damaged in shipping or the total loss of the package, we'll be tied up for months in endless calls and red tape trying to get a fair resolution to our claims. I know many people who have been through that, some multiple times, and frankly, most here have more than enough ready and willing buyers in the US marketplace and know we can avoid the hassle/potential hassle.

I've had one package to Japan that ended up a total loss (for me) and one that was opened en route and things removed (no available recourse). Other than that, I've had no problems, but can certainly see the reasons for not doing it.

We ship everywhere.

+1.

However, Australia presents a problem due to size restrictions. A set neck guitar to Aus. costs a whole bunch to ship (never less than $200 in my experience), and that can be too much for some folks. I suppose a bolt-on can be disassembled and shipped much cheaper. Have y'all found better options to ship guitars to Australia?

I find this really quite frustrating. I respect that it is down to the seller, but us guys overseas (I am in Europe) find it hard to find nice gear like Hamers.

I have managed to purchase a lot of gear from the USA, and sold stuff in the USA also. I have had the occasional problem, but no more than I get with domestic shipping. I think that is ins't as big a problem as some think.

Anyway, just my thoughts.

I understand all the added paperwork etc , and I'm not whinging that some people don't want to ship OS ( I would find it a PITA too and it's your guitar, your choice ) just that maybe if you are willing to ship you might mention it , it can save us the hassle of drooling over something then finding out that it's not available to us, just a thought ...

i had probs w/ a spkr i sold to my boy GusS in canada.

besides being very expensive to ship,

it disappeared for several weeks in transit.

i was about to send him a refund when it landed.

i'm just sayin', these kinda scenarios are why

people are hesitant to ship oustside of the continental usa.

I shipped a custom Chap to a guy in Belgium a couple years ago. He sent me a Bank Transfer, it cleared, I shipped to him USPS Insured, he got it in about a week or 2. Very smooth. We were both happy!! Jack.
