Cool. We'll be there Sat. a couple of hours before sunset, you know, to get that day/night transition. Feel free to kick us out anytime, don't want to over-burden you guys. Thanks!

It has continued into Sunday before. Especially with the firepit going, folks staying over and extra food and drink. I'm planing on food for 25+ so there is extra for those traveling. Authentic Jamaican jerk chicken, goat, shrimp, oxtail and a few other specialties. Our nanny and her husband are from the island and have their own restaurant One Love. Great reviews last month in Bold Life along with some lunatic's hot sauce. :) Not sure if the theme is appropriate but I thought it would be different and something many of you hadn't tried before. Also there is enough variety for every taste, even kids I hope.

I'm pretty excited about having you guys hear my tweed Bassman.

Steve - I'm coming up sometime Saturday morning. Bringing drums and a bass and maybe my Orange AD30. Rockola Steve might make it, too. Apply peer pressure as appropriate.

steve, you need to come if only to take photos of the Rockola Motel on 19/23. The 50's neon plus the vacancy flash might make a fine sig pic.

Look up a few posts and I think you will find what you are looking for.

Hope everyone has a safe trip and we'll see you all there.

Is Saturday or Sunday the better day? I am thinking that Saturday is the time to see most HFC'ers. I cannot arrive before 2:00 PM Saturday if all goes well.

My wife actually asked me if I wanted to fly down to Ashville this weekend!! I can't win for losing.

I Packed and left at noon. I had some chores & stuff to grab at mom's place in Asheville that would have put me at Steve's around 4ish, but I lost the ability to shift before I hit the highway. Stopped and checked; clutch resevoir was empty. I Bought fluid at autozone but the issue resurfaced before I got to Battlestar Gastonia. The slave cylinder is toast so I decided to limp back home.

It's a pain not to meet Steve H, Jettster, El, etc. and see JackC and Phoenix again. Apologies to all.

pissed,

Steve

It was a great time at a great spread with a great host! Thank you Phoenix Steve & Sue! Felt at home with Butcher and JackC there. Always smiles abound with Butcher Al in sight and I think Jack and I would be playing together if we where in the same 'hood. Fuck that hippie shit, let's rock! :) I don't know if Steve Haynie's a cop or not but I'm pretty sure he can out-trivia me on all things Cheap Trick/Kiss and Rodster Jettster, dude was super cool and one of those dudes that can flat out play his ass off without the need to let everyone know about it. That Budda RULED! :D

Kudos to neigbhor Edie for getting the karaoke mic. Creekside at Chateau Ambrose rules! :):)

Being self-conscious about letting any playing skills I had erode away I still made the trip up the hill to Asheville and met a bunch of friendly people. I brought along three Hamers for everyone to try-- my 8 string Chaparral bass, a korina Special, and a Scepter. The guitar that seemed to be neglected was the Scepter.

When I rang the doorbell I saw familiar faces from photos posted here on the HFC board. It was Butcher and Jack C. They made me feel welcome right off the bat.

Phoenix let us try his guitars, both new and vintage, along with his cool amps. His Monaco 12 string (from the Hamer designer gallery) plays like a dream. What surpised me about it is that it has a more chorus-like sound than the octave sound expected from a 12 string. Maybe I am just too used to the 12 string acoustics I have heard so many times in my life. That Monaco 12 was really nice sounding. The '55 Bassman combo is a wonderful amp.

Jettster's Budda combo had some incredible tone coming out of it. After reading about those amps for a couple of years I finally got to here one in use by someone worthy of such a great amp. I tried it out later and thought to myself that the amp was really something to consider getting one day.

Butcher brought along the guitar he made. The man is one really talented player! He was also very much there to jam all day long, too.

Elduave was definitely the guy that brought it all together-- he can sing! He also kept the jams going with a vast knowledge of songs. The black satin finish Monaco was there for everyone to try out. It was a stand out that everyone had to try. I also got to play Elduave's G&L ASAT, and like he said, "you can't put it down."

Jack C played drums most of the time. He also jammed on bass and then on guitar. We were the last to really make loud noises after everyone settled in around the campfire by the creek.

Thanks to Phoenix and his wife, Sue, for being gracious hosts and feeding us some great food.

These guys are always at the very top of my must-see HFC players list. The elduave show is not to be missed, and Butcher brings taste and style wherever he goes, and I'm not just talkin' about the guitar playing...it's the shoes and shirts, folks. He knows how to entertain!

Sounds like you guys had a great time. I'm going to make a big effort to make some of these regional jams in the future. It's all about PLAYING the guitars after all, right?

Oh, and, Where are the pictures?

That was a hell of a lot of fun. Phoenix-Steve, thanks to you and Sue for hosting us and feeding us and tolerating our noise. I love your new place and your '52 Tele was amazing. The Jamaican food was incredible. You guys are great.

Rockola-Steve - that really sucks about the car. I wondered what happened to you. I had no cell reception up in the mountains, so I missed you if you tried to call.

What a cool group of guys. Jettster and his wife are great peeps and Jettster is a hell of a player. His Budda was a hit with everyone and Duave's satin M3 through that amp was the shit. Steve Haynie is a Kiss library of riffs. When he whipped out Mr. Speed on an acoustic down by the creek, I was convinced he knows every Kiss song ever written. I can't say I was surprised to drive up and see the Butchermobile parked out front. Butcher is everywhere. I will admit that I was disappointed to see Al wearing plain brown leather shoes. He did make up for it with the badass homemade guitar and a homemade purple velour amp with custom "FART" badge. Elduave is a Rock Star. There aren't many guys who can pull off Elton John, Tesla, Neil Diamond and 38 Special on an acoustic. There are even less people who would want to try. :) It was awesome hanging with you again Dave, along with the whole Peers clan.

I believe pics were taken...

Butcher is going to send his pics for loading so there will be several installments. The funniest will be Butcher doing KISS in a swirl of smoke at the firepit. Sorry for the lack of flash, I tried to brighten them as much as possible. We limped through without a PA so both bass and mic were running through AC-30's :) Everyone was a thrill to have over and now that we know where to set up and how to alternate through 2 days with family and kids, I hope we do more. Early October would be good. Lots of leaf season activities and not to cold.

L-R Butcher w/ R-9, PAF's, tweed Bassman, Jack C on Carson Strat through the Fart, Steve Haynie on Bass through the UG-30, Elduave on drums, and Jettster dropping jaws with his Budda and Steinberger The couch was a huge Hamer guitar stand. The kids enjoyed it so much, and even sat in on Jacks drums, that AT LEAST one mom will be buying a drum set shortly. Seriously

Steve Haynie was the KISSlopedia and big part of all the music.

Cornerstone JackC. Brought drums and played 3 instruments well. :D

Steve Haynie plays everything well too! I loved the Korina Studio and my first Scepter fondling!

I almost gave up when Jettster blew us away with a few original songs and then told me he had only been playing for 1.5 years. Luckily for me the truth was 28.5 years more.

Thanks all!

Outside shots, Jamaican buffet, and fire pit shots to follow!

Steve, Dave and the others, you were missed. You too Wyldbil.
