FS: Hamer B12L Chap Bass

I''ve decided to let go of my B12L. I'm tired of the complaints that I'm drowning out the keyboards. :D It's not seeing the kind of action that it should with all the dance-pop music we're doing. Plus GAS has struck again and......well, you know the drill.

Anyhoo, it's been modified to include Duncan passive soapbar pickups and a Carvin onboard bass preamp. I "floated" two of the pots to allow use of the existing control locations on the bass. The controls are Master Volume, Balance, Bass, and Treble, just like normal. I think it sounds a lot better than it did with the EMG's. I also replaced the octave string tuner buttons with white pearloid. The knobs are back to the stock black dome brass - not speed knobs like the picture below.

This bass is a feather compared to most I've ever owned. If I had to guess, I'd say it's around 8 pounds (maybe less) It's the former JackC-owned bass. Maybe he or anyone who played it can chime in here. Jack gets right of first-refusal of course! :D

Cosmetically, it's probably an 8.5 or 9 out of 10. The only big ding it has is near the G tuners on the bottom of the headstock. It's less than 1/4" in diameter, but does expose the wood. It's not visible looking straight on. I'll try to get a picture of that posted later on today. The case is in fairly good condition. The neck slides around a bit, so I've augmented with additional foam.

Asking $725 plus shipping. Paypal OK (preferred actually)

Here's the only picture I could track down from work. I can get more later on.

Here's the preamp module (minus the midrange control at the right)

I'll chip in here on two counts...

1. I've played that bass, and it IS the lightest 12ver I've encountered. That is a good thing!

2. Brian is great to deal with.

Wow! If I played bass I'd really want that!

Actually, I kinda want it anyway.

It's a sickness.

I can't believe you can buy a USA Hamer 12 string bass for that money. Good thing I'm no bass player.

That's what I'M sayin'!

^^^

Yeah that's insane. If it were an 8-string I'd have bought it already. 12 strings are just too much for me.

Heh heh heh, in my mind that's a badge of honour.

Everybody must be on vacation or something.

I have a highly interested HFC'er who needs to check some stuff during regular bidnez days. Let's call this "on temporary hold" . :D

I'll keep you posted.

My American Express bill is already up to $900 for this month. Otherwise I would take it!

Lightweight! LOL!

You haven't lived until you've put a '59 Strat on your Visa!

(weeps with joy at the arrival of 2nd son a few weeks ago.)

(sobs helplessly at resulting lack of funds for the next year or so...)

Someday, I will have an 8 or 12. This would be one I'd love to have, but would likely not happen (for several reasons.)

Good luck to all!
