Turdus Posted May 20, 2005 Posted May 20, 2005 You'll always be "Turdus" to me LOL Dude... I still laugh at how I came up with that name....... What happened to your ID?
Jason01 Posted May 20, 2005 Posted May 20, 2005 Ok, for what that guy did-posting the guitar for sale and then selling it to a dealer when people here said they'd take it- was pretty cheap. I would still be against limiting the for sale page to only those with supporter tags. If someone shows up here with the lefty rainbow snakeskin virt I'd rather see it on the for sale page first than have them take it to ebay because they couldn't list it here. Who gets hurt by this? The regular supporters that watch the for sale page. If someone wants to sell a Hamer I hope this would be the first place they try and give us the chance at it. It would be nice if we could weed out the common stuff from uncommon but most of the time people don't seem to know what they have anyway. I really don't care if they stick around and "contribute" to the discussions on the board or not, if they've got something cool to sell and then move on whats the big deal?
Relicaster Posted May 21, 2005 Posted May 21, 2005 I disagree. It's not simply for sale.I wrote: EMAIL ME WITH YOUR OFFER---EDITED TO AD:I got not one email about it. NOT ONE.

BCR Greg Posted May 24, 2005 Posted May 24, 2005 Where did this go? I have a lefty guy in my shop RIGHT NOW that I was telling about it.Did somebody's feelings get hurt?
Guest galejt Posted May 24, 2005 Posted May 24, 2005 I think I like things here juuuuuust the way they are. This little community seems to do a fair and fine job of policing itself and making adjustments as required. "Suspect posts & posters" seem to be dealt with in a fair & quick manner. No need for any rules changes. Aye!! And that's why we need votin, arrrrgh. A taste of the lash will straighten those bastidz out. Minus two ya fokker. Arrrrgh.

revitup Posted May 25, 2005 Posted May 25, 2005 I don't post much but read a lot of them. I constantly check the adds, never know what I might fall in love with.I was wiped out on the old board as were others from what I am reading. What I think about this is; ?????????
Relicaster Posted June 29, 2005 Posted June 29, 2005 OK one last time................gotta sell... http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...ssPageName=WDVW
tomjoyce Posted June 29, 2005 Posted June 29, 2005 I was a supporter on the old board and had to change my screen name to get on to this one (used to be "lovelostlove", but I couldn't get that to work). Maybe I'm an idiot, but I have checked all over the site a number of times and I don't know where to click to contribute on this one.
BCR Greg Posted June 29, 2005 Posted June 29, 2005 I had a FRIGGIN' BUYER for that guitar, was willing to just make the connection, and somebody pulled a panty twist.Eat that guitar, fella.

WHERE WAS YOUR EMAIL TO BUY IT???I was contacted ONCE by an ebay member who vanished.I have been away, but heard nothing about it. Maybe I will just relic it........ then relist it.
ZR Posted June 29, 2005 Posted June 29, 2005 I think having benefits exclusive to paying-supporters is a good idea. Especially in fairness to you Ted for your time and expense. Offering more benefits could generate more supporters, more money and less funny-face-looks from your wife (although I like the one where she pulls her nose up and her lower eyelids down - classic!). ; )Anyway, is there a way to enable anyone to post a guitar for sale on the board but have it only viewable by supporting members? That would be an insentive to be a paying member; to get the first word on the good deals. Or, maybe have it viewable to supporters for the first week. I'm not sure how all this works but maybe have it connected to the outer circle side of things (not IN the OC but just in a programming sense) where only members can see it and then after one week it's released into the regular for sale area. So, basically, I propose an "OC for sale area" for supporting members (at least for the first week) BUT that anyone can post an ad to. I guess if we get more technical here we could say that members would have the choice to post on the "OC for sale" site to give members an exclusive chance to buy something, or post on the regular side for a quicker sale on something more regular such as pickups, or what have you, for a possible quicker sale. Non-supportinbg members would not have that option. This plan enables anyone to post ads but offers a benefit to paying supporters by giving them first access to those ads before being released into the public side of the board. Extra benefits might generate more supporters and more money to help run this great site. What do you think Ted?
Armitage Posted June 29, 2005 Posted June 29, 2005 I guess I don't see why you guys wouldn't want to be able to buy cool stuff, or why you'd want to limit who could buy your stuff?
Hamer95USA Posted June 29, 2005 Posted June 29, 2005 Hey guys, My thoughts on posting on the HFC For Sale, Trade or Pay It Forward messageboard: No new members can post anything for sale unless they have a minimum of 100 postings on this messageboard and they're a supporter of this website. We all know each other on this messageboard or will get to know you. I'm not happy with outsiders posting stuff for sale to the HFC members and not being honest about who they really are and what their business is. This will lead to Internet fraud by unknown people. Ted, if you're reading this, please consider this as a policy. Guitar George
marcnorth Posted June 29, 2005 Posted June 29, 2005 So I don't get to offer my goods for sale because I don't have 100 posts?I've been here since at least since 1998. Maybe even longer.I guess this one will help me get to 100.

I agree.I wouldn't have been able to buy Seeker's Studio because he doesn't have 100 posts yet (98 posts).Stonge couldn't sell here either (7 posts).I'm sure there are lots of others. Not everybody has time to play on internet forums all day and night.
thecajunboy Posted June 29, 2005 Posted June 29, 2005 I disagree. It's not simply for sale.I wrote: EMAIL ME WITH YOUR OFFER---EDITED TO AD:I got not one email about it. NOT ONE. Hey Relicaster,You've continued to miss my point on this. Your guitar was never simply for sale. You had it up for auction, and you were also trying to scare up a sale here. That's not a simple sale. If someone would have offered you the money outside of Ebay, you would have cancelled the auction and cheated Ebay out of their money for listing fees. You should just decide to auction it or sell it.
BadgerDave Posted June 29, 2005 Posted June 29, 2005 In my experience this works:Post your asking price, terms and a good description of what you're selling, including ALL "issues". Add a good quality photo and offer to send more photos to interested buyers. This doesn't work:"e-mail me your offer", no or bad photos, attitude. For what it's worth.
Relicaster Posted June 29, 2005 Posted June 29, 2005 I had it for sale HERE ONLY (1200.) while I was out and redoing my website. Nobody wanted it, nobody cared.
