cornjulio Posted April 3, 2008 Posted April 3, 2008 Just saw it on ebay. Looks good but it says that the serial no. has been scratched off. Why would you do that? Bu then again...it was only ink those days...and it's "buy now" for 750 bucks. C. http://cgi.ebay.com/Hamer-Vector-Flying-V-...7QQcmdZViewItem
Camstone Posted April 3, 2008 Posted April 3, 2008 Just saw it on ebay. Looks good but it says that the serial no. has been scratched off.Why would you do that? How do you spell S.T.O.L.E.N. ?
Jimbilly Posted April 3, 2008 Posted April 3, 2008 I'd blame that damn cat, -thinks everythings a scratching post, scratched that serial number clean off! I would imagine a defaced serial number would hurt the value at least as much as a headstock repair.
cornjulio Posted April 3, 2008 Author Posted April 3, 2008 Well.... I was wondering if this might be .a little shady.. but to offer it on ebay is not very smart....
ET_KenW Posted April 4, 2008 Posted April 4, 2008 The weird thing is that Midwest Buy and Sell is a reputable store around here. I beleive it was one of the standard stops on the guitar store tour for the Midwest HFC jams.
Siaip Ciuvas Posted April 4, 2008 Posted April 4, 2008 yeah, "stay away" is best advice... In fact ebay is a minefield, I've been lucky to evade frauds for long, but three months ago was cheated with Hamer guitar, my fault on a part, as no hard case, no good quality pictures, arrived with broken neck, refinished (ruined by amateur), non-original hardware, serial number was for sure repainted... Paid a price for wanting hamer so much. Good that PayPal protection took it seriously.
zorrow Posted April 4, 2008 Posted April 4, 2008 The scratched off S/N isn't a good sign, yes... Is anyone around missing a Vector? -- I do miss my white one, but I know it is Nick who's playing it at this moment, so that doesn't count!
murkat Posted April 4, 2008 Posted April 4, 2008 looks like my old vector thst went awol 23 years ago
kenjones Posted April 4, 2008 Posted April 4, 2008 The finish doesn't look original to me. I would imagine that the inked serial number was removed when the guitar was stripped of its original finish.
Jem Posted April 4, 2008 Posted April 4, 2008 The finish doesn't look original to me. I would imagine that the inked serial number was removed when the guitar was stripped of its original finish.Finish looks bang on to me, i've had a couple that have faded to nothing BUT, second row of pictures down clearly shows someone has sanded the number off of which i've always wondered why even if it was stolen as, by enlarge, most people don't keep a record of their serial numbers.

murkat Posted April 4, 2008 Posted April 4, 2008 The finish doesn't look original to me.Oh yes it is. serial# removal is deliberate and most obvious.
