Guest pirateflynn Posted April 15, 2008 Posted April 15, 2008 Damn, those are nice! It's a toss-up between the AC30 and Concert Amp for me.
Kramer_nut Posted April 15, 2008 Posted April 15, 2008 Where do you find this stuff? I need to take a trip and check out your shop sometime.Todd
phoenix Posted April 15, 2008 Posted April 15, 2008 lemee know if the Bassman arrives safely and you have Gregg Levy's list of NOS tubes he matched to them.
polara Posted April 15, 2008 Posted April 15, 2008 STEVE! Izzat your stash? Nice buncha Tolex and metal there! The AC30 makes me happy.
phoenix Posted April 15, 2008 Posted April 15, 2008 hey buddy!Yeah that's a AC-30 from '64, not even reconed. The others are a 1987 from early '71, '62 Concert (the cool year with an extra tremolo tube), 1967 Twin Reverb. All have been authenticated many times. The Amp Shop, Gruhns, Willcutts etc.
BCR Greg Posted April 15, 2008 Author Posted April 15, 2008 You sent THE BASSMAN?????????Oh, happy days for me! Two in one room, two in one room, two in one room.....
Guest pirateflynn Posted April 15, 2008 Posted April 15, 2008 '62 Concert (the cool year with an extra tremolo tube), I thought I recognize that one. Best of luck with the sale.
phoenix Posted April 15, 2008 Posted April 15, 2008 You sent THE BASSMAN????????? 1 more rectifier tube than yours. That thing sounds like the beginnings of rock to me. can't wait to hear your comparison. If it doesn't sell, I'll be sending Bandmaster #0025 to you. veddy cool
BrianM Posted April 16, 2008 Posted April 16, 2008 Some great amps in that pile. I just got to hear and play the Vox AC30 and Marshall head. Both are everything you expect from these amps, the sounds are simply stellar. I've always wanted to try out a vintage AC30, and this amp definitely captures that sound. AND original speakers! But then I plugged into the Marshall, and this amp is better suited for my tastes. Alas, I already have four vintage Marshall heads or else this one would be coming home. The amp sounded so good, and it has just a wonderful bloom/sustain to it. Oh yeah, both amps have a great tube compliment to boot. Someone is going to like these.

phoenix Posted April 16, 2008 Posted April 16, 2008 These are some of my keeper amps from over the years. Fair prices based on the last few year's price guides. As much as I love them, there are more important things I hope to do for my family. steve
Jim Browne Posted April 18, 2008 Posted April 18, 2008 All those amps are really nice!I know that Fender had a lot of transitional features, but, by '62, that Concert should've had an oxblood grill cloth-or even an early wheat. Was the grill replaced? Is the Tolex the same shade of brown that Fender used on the Vibroverb reissues (among others) or the earlier pinkish-brown? Either way, enviable group of amps!
phoenix Posted April 19, 2008 Posted April 19, 2008 here is a pic of it behind my 1961 vibrasonic which has the pinkish tolex. (Check out the kewl Ampeg Portaflex next to it.)

Steve Haynie Posted April 23, 2008 Posted April 23, 2008 I will miss the 1955 Bassman the most.If that is the amp I tried it sounded sooooo perfect!
