Zoner Posted June 5, 2008 Posted June 5, 2008 Everything about this guitar looks great except those "specially aged" parts. That #$%& is green, man! Gotta love a Koa wraptail, though. Huh? Dontcha? Zhttp://cgi.ebay.com/NOS-Vintage-HAMER-ULTI...1QQcmdZViewItem
cmatthes Posted June 5, 2008 Posted June 5, 2008 Did they leave that one in the surf or something? Those covers would look fine on a SFG finish though. The Koa is cool and rare to see on anything that isn't a Mirage.

The Koa is cool and rare to see on anything that isn't a Mirage. That green gunk is sometimes the result of a celluloid pickguard that's de-gassing. It happened on my 1980 Lucille. Turned every screw, strings and both pickup covers green! Had to get a replacement and store the original ina ziplock bag.
serial Posted June 5, 2008 Posted June 5, 2008 My '78 Ibanez Iceman's pickup cover (it's the one with the 3 coil) is almost completely green. One example of surf green I'm NOT a big fan of!
MCChris Posted June 5, 2008 Posted June 5, 2008 I think even I'd clean my covers if they ever got that bad.A Koa wraparound Studio. Didn't even know such an animal existed.
polara Posted June 5, 2008 Posted June 5, 2008 That guitar is pretty much what I'd order if I had my druthers. But I don't spend that much on anything I can't live in or drive...
Mr Fuzzy Posted June 5, 2008 Posted June 5, 2008 That guy's been trying to sell that FOREVER! -AustinAnd at the price he is asking I am guessing he is going to keep trying...
