Willie G. Moseley Posted June 20, 2008 Posted June 20, 2008 Last fall I asked for prayers and positive wishes for my wife, who'd been diagnosed with breast cancer. After the lumpectomy, then chemotherapy, she had a run of 36 radiation treatments and had the last one Friday afternoon. Celebration time! She still has an "oral chemotherapy" drug to take for a while, but the treatments are done. She had a minimal spread (microscopic metastasis to one lymph gland) and statistics had shown the difference in surviving for a prolonged time if she had not undergone any treatments was 3% less than if she did. That's not much, but she'd told me "I want it OUT of there", and she wouldn't want any 20/20 hindsight if she had a reoccurence. Her hair's coming back in; she now appears to have a buzz cut instead of looking like a bad Sinead O'Connor impersonator. Appetite's back, and she's putting on weight again. Oncologist already told her she might have been cancer-free months ago, considering how small her spread was. My thanks to those on this board for their prayers, good wishes, and positive thoughts, and that includes the private messages I received from some---I believe, as do others, in strength in numbers in situations like this. I don't think there's the first family in the country who hasn't had to go through something like this, and my wife's got more chutzpah than a lot of folks, which is one of many reasons I love her so much. Thanks again.WGM
