rmahurin Posted March 5, 2005 Posted March 5, 2005 This has been asked many times (but not here on the new board). A solid scratch and dent well worn player with no breaks. What's a reasonable asking price?
cmatthes Posted March 5, 2005 Posted March 5, 2005 It seems like in the last few months, even beat, but not heavily modded 4-digit Standards are pulling $2k minimum. I have seen two Kahlered examples sell for between $1,850 and $2,100.
Mobster Posted March 5, 2005 Posted March 5, 2005 This has been asked many times (but not here on the new board). A solid scratch and dent well worn player with no breaks. What's a reasonable asking price? Is this one you're selling, Rick? Why not just do a silent auction? I'm sure you'll end up with many more dollars than you think you might get otherwise....
Smakutus Posted March 5, 2005 Posted March 5, 2005 Put it on Ebay and start it for $9.99. (Don't end the auction early..) out..Jeff.
rmahurin Posted March 5, 2005 Author Posted March 5, 2005 Buying; just wanted an idea of how much is too much. Bad GAS is a bitch.
paults Posted March 5, 2005 Posted March 5, 2005 Too much won't be too much for too long...Remember : "Time+Retail=Wholesale" LOL!
serial Posted March 5, 2005 Posted March 5, 2005 I'd say closer to $3k than $3k for an unbroken unKahlered one. $2500 is probably not a bad deal for a dot necked 1980-1984 beater anymore.
Mike_C Posted March 5, 2005 Posted March 5, 2005 For that kind of coin I tink I'd go the custom order route and go new. I like 4 digits but prefer what Hamer is making now.
wyldbil Posted March 5, 2005 Posted March 5, 2005 Let me weigh in from my po' boy perspective...How much for a REAL beater with repair(s) including headstock...? That I might be able to manage in the forseeable future...
Smakutus Posted March 5, 2005 Posted March 5, 2005 How much for a REAL beater with repair(s) including headstock...? That I might be able to manage in the forseeable future... Get that dental pick out again!out..Jeff.
rmahurin Posted March 6, 2005 Author Posted March 6, 2005 I gave it a shot, but I can't justify any more than what I bid. Just outside my current disposable income limit. I was high bidder for a short while. Thought I might be able to sneak it without a snipe, but no. It was a new milestone for me though; Never spent more than $400 on a guitar in my life, but I would of for that one. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...item=7304433582 #0339 He'll ship it to the states. Anyone with the horsepower willing to try?
BTMN Posted March 6, 2005 Posted March 6, 2005 What nice flames you have!!!! Man, the import fees will be a tiddy little added amount too I bet. Wouldn't mind seeing one of the English lads score that one though. Jem, Martin, Dr Large, you boys on that one? side note to wyldbil: They are out there brother, search and you will find. Whackhead was a decapitated Standard with a 20 year old repair and no case for 15 years when I found him in the local music mag STUPID cheap in 2001! Life IS Good!
wyldbil Posted March 7, 2005 Posted March 7, 2005 Thanks Batz- you give me hope! Anybody got a beater at a price for a mere mortal? HMMM...?
Cheap Chick Posted March 7, 2005 Posted March 7, 2005 It's like heroin, man... a good junkie doesn't care HOW much it costs... just FIND the money - knock off a few liquor stores or something! Jeez.. do I have to teach you guys how to do EVERYTHING?
cmatthes Posted March 7, 2005 Posted March 7, 2005 Not sure I understand what you mean, Floyden (?). Looks like Disturber got a good deal!I still think that one went at the low end of the range of where things are now. Really makes me wish I'd held onto mine a couple years more, but I got to buy them stupidly cheap (one for less than $500 and one for $650), and had the pleasure of playing them for a while.
Disturber Posted March 7, 2005 Posted March 7, 2005 Disturber scores! I had totally missed this thread.Didn't think to many HFC'ers whereaware of this one.Yes I got it. Damn, this was not expected. The winning bid looked like it would stopat 1 700 dollars. That seemed to beto cheap so I had to bid, which I hadnot really planned to do.I thought I'd go in high so I wouldnot be beaten by a dollar or so, but did not expect it to land so closeto my maximum bid. I had expectedto get it for a bit less. Where shallI get the funds for this one, lol.Anyway I'm looking forward to receivethis baby. I'll let you know if I don't likeit.
Disturber Posted March 7, 2005 Posted March 7, 2005 edit: foggedaboudid. no flame war needed over this.
