mirrorimij Posted January 3, 2009 Posted January 3, 2009 IIRC there were a few natural mahogany Special HBs from that time frame. Depending on the year I'd have a look at some close ups of the edge of the fingerboard and neck joint to see if any Hameritis exists (and to what extent).

BTMN Posted January 4, 2009 Posted January 4, 2009 Yep. 4 days into the year and I have already made a deposit on one, my 2009 DOA Soltero, and now I'm driving down tomorrow morning to get this if I can or at least give him a nice deposit. If all goes well I have a feeling it will be a one piece body and be to the Special what the '96 one piece Mahogany Standards are to the Standards. So to speak. Double Creams will be Classic in this after Gold Top hats and a Vintage looking Ambered toggle switch. G.A.S. I Love it. Man, I gotta move a lower end piece or two.
DaveL Posted January 5, 2009 Posted January 5, 2009 I have the price list from 93-94, I believe cherry, TV, black, white, Tobacco sunburst and natural were standard colors for mahogany specials back in the early 90's. Humbuckers were a $100 upcharge and I think the FM with hums was $100 morethan that. I've seen a few hack jobs on 90's specials, it might be a conversion but it's possible that these could be original... Florida Craig's list is makin me jealous... did anyone get that cool quilt FM froma month ago?

BTW, seller is dad of seller of the Green Bill Lawrence loaded Special you use to own craiglisted here a while back and then again recently. (cues up: The Circle of Life....) It's a '94. A '94 Hamer to go with my new '94 Honda.
BTMN Posted January 5, 2009 Posted January 5, 2009 OH Yeah!!! Cant wait to pay this off and get it home. Legit HB model. Neck pickup has been reversed. Nice one piece body. No overt abuse or serious wear at all. Hameritis present, but in a funny way. Light spot at the nut area on the bass side with only a thin line along the neck joint area. Coming with a Gibber LP of some sort hardshell case. I have just the guitar for that case and a case for this Special. I might try too hunt up a Special case at some point. THANKS For The Tip!!!
