RoyB Posted March 5, 2009 Posted March 5, 2009 Lots in the news at RS Well first we will be closed Tomorrow and Friday while we go to the Nashville guitar show, so we hope to see you at the Factory in Franklin the 7th and 8th. Next we will be having a 10% off Internet sale starting tomorrow and running through Sunday night while we are closed. Now for what’s new. First we finished the guitar we built for Joe Perry and it looks like he is very happy with it, so here is a shot of it and a link to more photos of it. http://www.rsguitarworks.net/cms2/index.ph...7&Itemid=58 Next the God Save the Queen came out great and is in use now by Billy Morrison of Camp Freddy Now on to what’s new. We were asked to build an electric Mandolin for a good friend and we were so happy with how it came out we wanted to share it. We call it “Little Buddy” Next as of February it’s been 5 years since the first Old Friend, so we decided to pull together two of the best vintage style guitars we could do, so here they are. There is only one Contour and one slab and both are hand signed by Scott and myself that will be made. They use 15 year old air dried Swamp ash, 100 plus year old flamed lake salvage maple and the pickups are not production, but are hand wound just for these two guitars by Lindy Fralin himself using real vintage wire that dated 1956. After that they were cryogenically treated. These pickups are would just like Lindy winds his own, so to say the least they are amazing!! Next we did a blond 59 style slab. A Contour that we call a Hot Rod that has to tapped True 60s and a Blues special middle pickup that just kills. Then we decided to try some new stuff, so we did a TV yellow guitar we call a Halfash Contour that’s body is half swamp ash and half Honduran mahogany. This guitar is a 25” scale, so not only does it sound half Gibson and half Fender it pays that way as well. Ten we really pushed the issue of different by combining a full sized Jazzmaster body and neck with the style of a late 60s Fender Musiclander/Swinger into a guitar we call a Swingmaster. This guitar just plays like a dream!!! So after all this vintage stuff we had to show we could do new as well as aged, so we made this. and our newest Stepside Jr in Lake Placid Blue. Well that’s it for now (Like that’s not enough).
