bubs_42 Posted March 22, 2009 Posted March 22, 2009 Well, I want to add another guitar. so I want to move a few. Sadly Since I have 2 79 Sunburst I going to move this one to you fine folks. I will not sell this anywhere else but the board and the price is Firm. DETAILS, 79 Sunburst (Lightburst) Love this finish Light outdoors but it almost turns to a Honey indoors. Purchase it from Pirateflynn this is the Sunburst that Started it for me. The rest is history. Come to find out that is was once owned by BCRGREG, sold to a fellow (UNKNOWN) in CA. and then to Pirateflynn then to me. Fiinish: Lots of checking on the Top,Back and Neck. Finish is solid checking is purely cosmetic. Top is pretty clean other than the checking and some slight pick hazing.. Its a frickin 79 for PETES SAKE. Good Strong Color, one little nick by the Controlls. Not through the finish though. The Back has a few dings but there is no major rash or nasty stuff. Back of the neck is not tacky its smooth and plays great. Headstock is clean and Face is clean all the finish around the tuners is intacted. Serial # intact and clear. Structure: No Breaks, Cracks, Neck joint has no issues just inspected by BCRMUSIC. I'm not sure what he did to the neck but if feels smoother than when it left. Changes: Due to a poor fret dress and nut job, I sent it to BCRGREG to have a New nut put on and he recomended a Partial refret. He used NOS Gibson Oval frets and it looks and plays great. Pickups. Well, I didn't like the Stock Dimarzio's in this guitar. Its not a Heavy Guitar 8lbs but it was dark. So 6 Bridge Pups later I put in a (Sticker Labeled) Seymour Duncan DoubleCream Custom pickup. Bamm that was the trick and earned it the nickname (THE HAMMER). Great Floor Shacking Lows and a great round top end. As for the neck pups I put in a PG (Old School) Hard to find with the Stickerlabel. I did not modify the guitar but I modified the Pups. Trimmed down the Legs and drill and tapped them. Greg also buffed the Seymour Duncan off the PG.(VINTAGE SUNBURST HAVE SHOLLOW NECK POCKETS) Combo sounds great. P.S. the Dimarzios are not included. EXTRA'S: Well I don't have an OHSC but it will come with a Vintage Gibson Purple lined Case or if you want I have a newer Hamer Case. Both fit it like a glove "Tight"... If you want the Hamer Case let me know and it may delay the Shipment a little. I have my other Sunburst in it and its having work done at the moment. No problem getting it but I can only get it on Saturday's. Hour Drive to get it 1 way. Questions: Let them fly! Thanks for looking, I love the guitar but I'm searching for another Burst as well and I don't need 4. I can't sell the 77 and the Darkburst looks so damn good next to my 4digit. Seems that the B/C Sunburst had thinner necks and the Dots have great necks? Haven't played but a handfull but its nice. Don't let the Duncans fool you guys either. I was just playing the Sunburst and the Custom I usually leave at about 8 and its a powerfull pickup. If you play a oldschool with a tubeamp those extra 2 notchs send even my Dr. Z into new territory. The PG I usually run about 9 because they are "Rude". Its a great pickup that will clip the cleanest channel. I Play threw a Tremoverb most of the time and when you have a master volume on a clean channel and a couple of pedals, you have a smokin setup. Best way to describe the Custom Pup is it will cover just about everything Gary Moore does. At 8 its a Paf, on 10 its brutal. The guitar is a Hamer its resonent, acousticly loud and even. Haven't made up my mind. It may be another burst, but I'm not jumping on the first thing I see. I probly put up a wishlist soon. I still have to get the heard under control.
