mathman Posted June 12, 2009 Posted June 12, 2009 on ebay and on craigslist. Seems to be the same person. No case though.
mc2 Posted June 12, 2009 Posted June 12, 2009 Yeah....someone bought that one on EBAY about a month back for, I believe $1800 Buy It Now and then immediately relisted it to flip for $3000. At the time there was a string here discussing whether the graphic was factory original. I own a Hamer bass around the same vintage with a busted glass graphic, although not the same as this busted glass one, so I think it's possible IMO.
silentman Posted June 12, 2009 Posted June 12, 2009 If I had commissioned this graphic, I'd have put the hole in the glass around the volume knob. Otherwise I'm wondering what would have broken the glass.

JustKid Posted June 13, 2009 Posted June 13, 2009 Saw one of those finishes on Ed Roman guitar. Somehow this painjob doent look "hamer' to me ( not that I claim that it's not authentic, just kinda not like a hamer-style), more like a jackson style...but who knows, the seller should find a signature and picture it.
morningstar Posted June 14, 2009 Posted June 14, 2009 That's almost certainly a Dan Lawrence GMW finish. It's in their catalog of custom fins. Stooey had a Moser with the finish. morningstar
JustKid Posted June 14, 2009 Posted June 14, 2009 To answer my Q, the seller wrote: "The artist didn't sign it and I forgot his name but he did stuff for Zakk Wylde and others in New Jersey." if anyone is interested
anotherfreak Posted June 14, 2009 Posted June 14, 2009 GMW Finishes: Extra cool on a Hamer but still a GMW Finish
atquinn Posted June 16, 2009 Posted June 16, 2009 what is GMW? Brace yourself http://www.gmwguitars.com/ -Austin
carfish7 Posted June 16, 2009 Posted June 16, 2009 what is GMW? Brace yourself http://www.gmwguitars.com/ -Austin Why would you do something like that? That's a great deal of time I'll NEVER get back! Wild stuff, indeed, but that website made me jumpy. Z
morningstar Posted June 18, 2009 Posted June 18, 2009 LEE GARVER is GMW as far as I know. He used to get me into NAMM shows. He stopped going to NAMM shows because demand for GMW and Empire guitars was so high he had no need to go. Lee is reliable. Be sure what you want; Lee is too busy for unprepared people, wafflers and mind-changers. His work, from my experience, is top drawer.Still, FrankieII edges everyone else out for super setup skills in the LA area.morningstar
rmahurin Posted June 19, 2009 Posted June 19, 2009 A hi-res body shot of this one used to be the first splash on the Empire website, a really beautiful piece of work
proxmax Posted June 19, 2009 Posted June 19, 2009 it is matter of taste, but really great work!phantastic!
