MrGuitarguy Posted November 4, 2009 Posted November 4, 2009 It's been some time since I've been lurking with my crazy schedule (lecturing at universities now in addition to running the studio), but if anyone needs stuff mixed and mastered feel free to let me know. Free (of course) for HFC project on the condition that I get a copy of the final album. Send me an email at colin@johnschwabrecording.com if anyone's interested. Ok, lunch is over. Back to mixing...
cmatthes Posted November 4, 2009 Posted November 4, 2009 If it's okay, I'm going to anchor this thread.Quick question - any idea of a time frame to get submissions in? That would probably be a critical factor to a lot of people here. I know that with the holidays approaching, it might be difficult to get things together, but thought we should possibly toss out a deadline...12/31/08 - 1/15/10 - 1/31/10?Any ideas?

I'll take this offer and will send you TWO CD's! Can you please email me to hfc dot compilation at gmail dot com ? I'll work on all this during the weekend. If it's okay, I'm going to anchor this thread. Thanks a lot! Quick question - any idea of a time frame to get submissions in? That would probably be a critical factor to a lot of people here. I know that with the holidays approaching, it might be difficult to get things together, but thought we should possibly toss out a deadline... 12/31/08 - 1/15/10 - 1/31/10? Any ideas? Well, it would be quite hard for 12/31/08! So we have either 1/15/10 or 1/31/10 And, you're right, the holidays could be a problem. So, is everyone agree about fixing the deadline at 1/31/10?
BlueRedWhite Posted November 5, 2009 Posted November 5, 2009 [ So, if you are SERIOUSLY committed to participate and think you can provide an original song of a max duration of 4:30 minutes BEFORE the deadline date --which I'm fixing now for November 30th, 2009-- And, you're right, the holidays could be a problem. So, is everyone agree about fixing the deadline at 1/31/10? Next time try to be more flexible from the beginning Zorrow...i told you November was too short.. I won't enter now, but is just frigging bummer Don't worry, i'll buy at least two CDs!!!
Stokesdead Posted November 6, 2009 Posted November 6, 2009 Ill volunteer my services for the cd jacket design. Just let me know if your interested.Chris Stokes

bamboohead Posted November 6, 2009 Posted November 6, 2009 IT'S CLOSED!!!!! When I voted it was 15 for a go.Ok, damn I quess it's my own fault for voting yes and then not getting to the web site to confirm. Shit I quess I'll always be a day late and a dollar short but I had $50 bucks saved up to help out. Maybe next time. There are so many folks in the club that are way more talented than myself that it's probably a good thing that my toons were not included. Luv ya guys.P.S The one I was going to submit was even done with an "81" Vector.

Please send me the email with all the info, if the average track length goes just around 4:00 minutes we can handle 17, so you'll be in. Now cross your fingers, and pray.
zorrow Posted November 8, 2009 Author Posted November 8, 2009 IMPORTANT NOTICE --I want to state clearly a couple of things, as I wasn't very explicit about the following: 1- The time to ask for an entry is CLOSED, as we are 16 "official" participants already. 2- The maximum time per track was fixed to 4 minutes and 30 seconds --and that's what dictated the "16" number above. 3- However, given that the average track duration could go below 4:30 (and I sincerely hope it will), I'm open to create a "waiting list" to squeeze more participants in, if new slots open. So far, we have the following members in that list, in the following order: - Feynman --if his mistery track can be finally found and if he finally decides it should be in. - BlueRedWhite - bamboohead So, that's it! And remember, the deadline still is January 31th 2010 --unless you guys tell me you want a couple of weeks more ; but please, let's try to have our material ready no later than February 14th, ok? Thanks! Edited to correctly spell "Feynman".
mathman Posted November 11, 2009 Posted November 11, 2009 I don't know which song to choose. I have 3 mostly ready. One I like that I have the parts and could finish, and one new one that I like but am having major issues with lyrics.Help.here are some that are mostly done and I like. What do you think?an olde style rocker Life at 50A jazzy slow song. Heartbeats This features my Hamer Cruise bass with a lead and rhythm part. I wrote this to explore the different sounds of the bridge and neck pickups on it.Saying Goodbye is an unusual sorta sad song. I've made many variations of this song.finally a "Cars" sorta early punk song. Journalism 101 ( I don't want to know) A definite garageband/rough mix track that I like.Help me choose.
zorrow Posted November 12, 2009 Author Posted November 12, 2009 I'll have a lot free of time next Saturday, as my daughter and my wife won't be home. So, I'll spend several hours listening and classifying the stuff --I'm very busy these days, but I won't let us down!
Feynman Posted November 12, 2009 Posted November 12, 2009 It's confirmed. Neither Sentinel or I can locate the long lost track. I had it hosted on a website that is no longer around, and I can't dig up a local copy on any of my computers. Sadly, I guess this one goes in the "what could have been' file.
MrGuitarguy Posted November 13, 2009 Posted November 13, 2009 Just a heads up for anyone wanting me to mix their song. I'm pretty crushed with projects right now, so please let me know ASAP so that I can schedule you on my calendar. Also, if I'm going to be the mastering guy, could someone email me with the due dates for the final project? Also, I'd need a track order. Finally, I rarely have time to lurk so of anyone wants to take advantage of either of these offers please email me at: colin@johnschwabrecording.comHappy recording!!!
zorrow Posted November 20, 2009 Author Posted November 20, 2009 I'll give you some more news next Sunday. For now I just finished organizing in folders all what I got. Some of you haven't sent the songs, so I'll write emails to you guys tomorrow.
Uncle Thor's Hamer Posted December 14, 2009 Posted December 14, 2009 Zorrow, somehow this fell off of my radar. I've got several possible submissions, one which is ready to go and the other two need vocals tracked. Do you need me to submit anything to you at this point in time?
zorrow Posted December 14, 2009 Author Posted December 14, 2009 Zorrow, somehow this fell off of my radar. I've got several possible submissions, one which is ready to go and the other two need vocals tracked. Do you need me to submit anything to you at this point in time? I've been too busy this time of the year, so I've had to put on hold this for several days --for example, I've just received a couple of tracks from two HFC'ers and haven't even listened to them! However, I'm taking two weeks off from 12/18, so I'll have enough time to work on the project. Now, as you might know, we declared "complete" the list of participants. NEVERTHELESS, I have to get everyone's track and see if there's actually more room to complete a CD of around 70 minutes. If there's more room (after squeezing all the confirmed participants in), those in the "waiting list" will enter too, one by one and in "first arrived, first served" order. So yes, you can send me an email with all the info and your material --please look for what's needed earlier in this thread. I cannot guarantee you'll be in, but I'll keep you in mind. Thanks!
Uncle Thor's Hamer Posted December 18, 2009 Posted December 18, 2009 zorrow, emails sent with info and a yousendit link to download the .wav file.
zorrow Posted December 18, 2009 Author Posted December 18, 2009 Cool! Now I'm on vacation, so I'm diving deep into this from tomorrow on. Stay tuned!
Jack C Posted January 3, 2010 Posted January 3, 2010 Just curious, Z, did you receive the emails and pm I sent you in November? I never heard back from you.
zorrow Posted January 11, 2010 Author Posted January 11, 2010 Hey guys! For those asking, yes, the project is still ON. I created one folder per HFC'er on my PC, and then downloaded the stuff many of you have already provided. Some of you have used public file sharing sites, while others have sent me CD's via normal mail --still, the fastest way to send me your material is by hosting your .WAV file somewhere and then sending me an email with the link. Also, some have sent me more than one song for me to chose, so please be patient, as this forces me to listen to your songs carefuly. So, I will proceed to contact you via email very soon with some questions, as well as to let you know if I got your material and if I did listen to it.Once again, stay tuned --but please be patient. I also have to get my own material ready, as well as to cope with my "normal", non-guitar-related life.CU,Zorrow
MrGuitarguy Posted January 13, 2010 Posted January 13, 2010 Guys, www.yousendit.com is an excellent way to send files and files can be sent for free without the need to host them. Just an FYI.
